Exciting new directions in employee services and recent retirements have made room for three new senior leadership positions in SUNY Oneonta's human resources department: Assistant Director for Employee Experience and Engagement ----Assistant Director for Employee Wellness and Success----Assistant Director for Talent Acquisition and Development.
These three positions are collaborative roles, teaming up with others in the department, including the Assistant Director of Human Resources, to bring new initiatives in recruiting, employee retention, development, engagement and technology to life. Position Description
The Assistant Director positions have potential for growth and promotion and require human resources professionals with the agility to adapt to shifting obstacles and priorities, a reputation for mentoring employees and holding them accountable for measurable results, an ability to lead by example, proactive problem resolution, data driven decision-making while being sensitive to others, demonstrated support for diversity and inclusion, strong emotional intelligence and active listening skills.
The positions will help develop and execute human resources strategies to position the University as an employer of choice. Ideally, the Assistant Directors will have experience in some or all of the following areas: talent acquisition and retention, employee engagement, performance systems, leadership and employee development, immigration and work authorization processes, wellness efforts, benefits and payroll administration, process re-engineering, labor relations, legal compliance, diversity initiatives, classification and compensation systems, data analysis, software implementation and policy development.
The Assistant Director roles are hands on, with the directors working closely together and all participating in benefits and leave administration, diversity initiatives, professional development programming, employee relations and process improvements.
TheAssistant Director for Employee Experience and Engagementwill focus on employee engagement program design and implementation, communications, data analytics and labor relations.
TheAssistant Director for Employee Wellness and Successwill guide employee wellness initiatives, lead the design of professional development programs, build and implement a robust performance management system and manage succession planning.
TheAssistant Director for Talent Acquisition and Developmentwill lead recruiting, onboarding, orientation and retention initiatives, administer civil service hiring, conduct classification and compensation reviews and manage the immigration and work authorization process.

Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution
Minimum of 8 years' progressive Human Resources experience, with at least 5 years' HR experience at the mid/high management level
Minimum 5 years' Human Resources leadership, supervisory or team management experience
Additional Qualifications:
Knowledge of and experience across a broad range of human resources disciplines and practices, particularly those listed above; deep subject matter expertise
Highly effective written and oral communication and presentation skills
Evidence of outstanding cultural competency and sensitivity to all dimensions of diversity in the workplace
Successful HR and employee engagement and development (training) program design and implementation
Extensive knowledge of employment laws and regulations
Demonstrated extraordinary customer service orientation
Track record of success in meeting or exceeding established goals
Finance and budgeting aptitude, the ability to compile and analyze financial and other data
Near and long-term strategic planning skills
Human Resources experience in a unionized environment
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office products, human capital management systems, graphic design and other software programs
Preferred Qualifications:
Current PHR/SPHR S/CP or similar HR certification
Master's degree in human resources, business administration, social sciences, or other related discipline
Ten or more years' progressive Human Resources experience at the mid/high management level
