Job Description:

The Department of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Statistics at the State University of New York College at Oneonta invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Computer Science starting in Fall 2023. This is a tenure track position with an initial appointment of two years. Expectations include, but are not limited to, teaching, college service, and continuing professional development.

The Department offers major and minor programs in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Statistics. There are 21 full-time and 10 part-time faculty serving around 275 students majoring in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Statistics. The Department is part of the School of Sciences which consists of 10 academic departments and 2,250 students majoring in 24 programs. Duties include but not limited to: teaching 21 semester hours per academic year at the undergraduate level, research, student advisement, college service, continuing professional development, participation in program and course assessment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Computer Science or a related area (ABD considered with doctorate at time of initial appointment).


  • Demonstrated collegiate teaching experience

  • Ability to teach a variety of course in an undergraduate computer science program

  • Experience in teaching, mentoring, research, or service with diverse and/or multicultural populations
