Make an impact as you mold the next generation of empathetic change-makers in our tenure-track Assistant Professor - Counselor Education at the State University of New York at Oneonta, beginning Fall 2025. Expectations include, but are not limited to, teaching, research, student advisement, student engagement, college service, and continuing professional development. The department is excited to welcome the new faculty as part of an exciting program!

The Department of Educational Psychology, Counseling, and Special Education is thrilled to offer dynamic graduate programs in school counseling and special education. We provide engaging courses in learning, development, assessment, and special education for both elementary and secondary education majors. We're excited to expand and reimagine our Counselor Education program, and we're on the lookout for a passionate new tenure-track faculty member to join our growing team!

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Teach required courses in the Counselor Education Master's program and Certificate of Advanced Study program.

  • Advise students.

  • Participate in department service.

  • Contribute to the scholarly reputation of the University though a research agenda.

  • Contribute to the positive ethos of the department.

  • Dedication to DEISJ (Diversity: Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice) throughout courses and interaction with students.

  • Teach other courses to meet department needs.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate in counselor education or a closely related field. (ABD considered; completion required by date of appointment).

  • Experience in teaching counseling courses.

  • Relevant experience in K-12 school setting.

  • Evidence of scholarly potential/productivity.

  • Experience with distance learning.

Preferred:

  • Graduate of a CACREP-accredited program and/or certification as a professional school counselor.

  • Experience teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level.

  • Capability to teach courses in the specialty area of school counseling.

  • Evidence of commitment to excellence in teaching.

  • Evidence of active scholarly activities.

  • Experience in counselor training and supervision.

  • Experience in teaching, mentoring, research, or service with diverse and/or multicultural populations.
