The Department of Geography and Environmental Sustainability at the State University of New York College at Oneonta invites applications for a tenure track position as anAssistant Professor of Geography Environmental Sustainabilitybeginning Fall 2023. Expectations include, but are not limited to, teaching, research, student advisement, college service, and continuing professional development.
With over 100 undergraduate students, two majors, and three tracks the Department of Geography and Environmental Sustainability is strong and growing. Among the first interdisciplinary environmental sustainability programs, it continues to be innovative and distinctive. The Department is part of the School of Sciences, which consists of 10 academic departments and 19 majors." Duties include but are not limited to:teaching introductory and upper level Geospatial technology courses with a focus in Applied Environmental GIS; teaching introductory geography; and teaching other courses to support the geography and environmental sustainability programs to meet department needs; contributing to supervision of applied learning activities such as independent studies, internships, service-learning, and/or global education; mentoring students; student advising; and actively participating in departmental and university life.

Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
PhD in geography or closely related discipline (ABD considered; doctorate required at time of start date)
Abilities to teach GIS
Preferred:
Demonstrated ability to teach GIS courses and other courses as listed in duties above
Experience with teaching using ArcPro and QGIS
Demonstrated interest in integrating experiential learning into coursework
College-level teaching experience
Excellent communication skills
Experience in teaching, mentoring, research, or service with diverse and/or multicultural populations.
