SUNY Oneonta Assistant Professor - Management Information Systems/Business Analytics in Oneonta, New York

The Department of Management, Marketing and Information Systems at the State University of New York College at Oneonta invites applications for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of MIS/Business Analytics beginning Fall 2020. The professional obligation is for a ten-month academic year. Expectations include, but are not limited to, teaching, research, student advisement, college service, and continuing professional development.

SUNY Oneonta is a public college in Central New York, enrolling about 6,500 students in bachelor’s, master’s and graduate certificate programs. Most of SUNY Oneonta’s main campus lies within the City of Oneonta, which is located in the northern foothills of the Catskill Mountains, about a four-hour drive from New York City, Boston and Philadelphia. With a population just shy of 14,000, the City of Oneonta is the largest municipality in a rural region dominated by agriculture and tourism.

The School of Economics and Business is accredited by AACSB International. It houses two academic departments: the Department of Economics, Finance and Accounting and the Department of Management, Marketing and Information Systems. Three academic majors are offered: Business Economics, Professional Accounting, and Economics. The School has 35 faculty/staff and approximately 700 students. Duties include but not limited to: teaching undergraduate courses in introduction to business, business analytics concepts, business analytics methods, business analytics strategies, management information systems, enterprise resource planning, and other courses according to Department and School needs; conducting research leading to publications in refereed journals; advising students; fulfilling departmental duties; providing college service; and engaging in continuing professional development.

Required Qualifications: earned doctorate degree with a focus in Management Information Systems, Business Analytics, Data Science, or a closely related field such as Management Science, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, from an AACSB accredited institution (ABD considered if terminal degree is completed by date of the first renewal notification). All applicants must meet the requirements for qualification as a scholarly academic under AACSB standards.

Preferred: college teaching experience and a record of published research in the field of management information systems or business analytics or closely related area; strong interest in teaching in business programs with foundations in economics and management; interest in teaching in a business program that includes diverse viewpoints among participants and preparing graduates for careers in the global context; experience working with diverse populations and/or teaching pedagogies and/or multicultural teaching experience.
