The Department of Art at the State University of New York at Oneonta invites applications for a tenure track position as anAssistant Professor of Artwithexpertise in UI/UX and Emerging Technologiesbeginning Fall 2023. We are seeking candidates with strong backgrounds in creative design and industry experience who can work in an environment that combines contemporary digital design with traditional fine arts practices. Experience in interdisciplinary programs will be helpful. Expectations include, but are not limited to, teaching, research, student advisement, college service, and continuing professional development.
The Art Department provides undergraduates with a solid foundation in the methods and theories in the creation and study of the visual arts, while preparing them for careers as creative professionals. Duties include but are not limited to: teaching Interactive Media Design (UI/UX) for web and mobile platforms; developing courses in emerging technologies which enhance the Art Department's offerings of digital design; teaching introductory courses in digital art and a new video game design concentration, mentoring students through their studies and providing guidance for post-graduation success in the professional field; teaching a full-time 21 credit load; engaging in continuous creative activity and professional growth; acting as an academic advisor to students; performing departmental and school-wide service; taking a leadership role in developing and promoting growth in this area of our Digital Art and interdisciplinary game design program, and teaching other courses to meet department needs.

Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
Terminal degree in Art, Design, Digital Media, or a related area.
Exceptional skills in user interface/user experience design.
Expertise in digital production and tools (Adobe Creative Cloud, Figma or InVision, etc.).
Ability and knowledge of appropriate coding.
Evidence of exceptional creative work as demonstrated in the submitted portfolios.
Also Considered:
Teaching experience beyond Graduate Assistant level.
Professional experience in digital product design, evidence of ability to develop an interdisciplinary curriculum, both introductory and advanced, that encompasses conceptual and applied issues in media design.
Skills in related fields such as motion graphics, data visualization, gaming, entertainment, animation or instructional design.
Experience working with diverse populations and/or teaching pedagogies and/or multicultural teaching experience, and experience in teaching, mentoring, research, or service with diverse and/or multicultural populations.
