We invite you to join our team as the Director of Gift Planning, where you will play a pivotal role in growing our University Foundation Endowment by cultivating meaningful relationships with major donors and crafting personalized giving strategies. The Division of University Advancement is seeking a skilled fundraiser and communicator to join our team as the Director of Gift Planning. In this key fundraising role, responsibilities are to solicit major outright and planned gifts and to implement a comprehensive estate planning communications and marketing program. This position reports to the Associate Vice President for University Advancement.
The Division of University Advancement includes the offices of Development & Fundraising and Alumni Engagement. The primary goals of the Division are to increase the level of private support for the University, strengthen alumni traditions and networks, and build sustaining long-term relationships that advance the reputation and visibility of the University.

Duties include but are not limited to:
Solicit current and estate gifts from SUNY Oneonta alumni and other potential donors.
Manage a portfolio of prospective and current planned giving and major gift donors, ensuring timely stewardship of assigned donors and prospects.
Lead a comprehensive estate planning communications plan and act as a resource on estate planning for all gift officers in the Division.
National, regional, and local travel required for in-person meetings leading to the growth in the number of completed major, planned, and blended gift solicitations.
Coordinate planned giving materials including letters, newsletters, and brochures, and oversee Charitable Gift Annuity administration.
Collaborate with leadership volunteers, faculty and staff, the Vice President for University Advancement, and other Advancement colleagues to obtain significant gifts and gift commitments; directing strategy, and implementing a comprehensive communications plan for gifts through estate planning.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
Demonstrated experience in fundraising, sales and/or marketing, estate planning, financial planning, or related fields.
Outstanding communication skills with the ability to present information clearly and persuasively.
Exceptional Relationship-building skills.
Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to independently plan and execute travel for trips and donor visits.
Preferred:
Proven success: in securing major gifts ($25,000 +) and developing high-impact gift-planning programs.
Previous work in nonprofit fundraising.
Experience with Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge/NXT fundraising program; experience using Planned Giving Manager software.
Commitment to advancing the SUNY Oneonta Foundation mission and passion to create lasting impact.
Experience working with and serving diverse populations.
