Job Description:

The Division of College Advancement at the State University of New York College at Oneonta invites applications for the position ofDirector of Gift Planning. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of College Advancement, this senior level fund raising professional will solicit lifetime and estate planning gifts. Additionally, this position is responsible for a comprehensive estate planning and communications program.

The Division of College Advancement includes the offices of Development & Fundraising and Alumni Engagement. The primary goals of the Division are to increase the level of private support for the College, strengthen alumni traditions and networks, and build long-term relationships that advance the reputation and visibility of the College. Duties include but not limited to:Manage a portfolio of planned and major gift donors; Serve as a resource about estate planning for all gift officers in the Division; Travel regionally and nationally for in-person meetings and events; Collaborate with and support leadership volunteers, the President of the College, the Vice President for College Advancement, and other colleagues to obtain significant gifts and planned gift commitments; Administer and promote charitable gift annuity program; direct strategy and implement a comprehensive communications plan for gifts through estate planning.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Minimum of five years of experience in fundraising, estate planning, financial services, higher education or other non-profit, or related field

  • Excellent presentation and written communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively as member of a team

  • Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed

  • A valid driver's license

Preferred qualifications:

  • Demonstrated expertise raising planned and major gifts

  • Skill using Blackbaud Raiser's Edge/NXT or similar data base program

  • Experience using Planned Giving Manager software

  • Experience working with and serving diverse populations
