The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, an eight-member financial aid team that works collaboratively with the college community to coordinate the disbursement of more than $60 million annually to approximately 5,500 students, invites applications for a Financial Aid Assistant.
In this exciting role, you will manage daily office operations and seamlessly provide assistance to students, families, and colleagues. The Financial Aid Assistant should be a highly organized and self-motivated individual who can easily prioritize and achieve daily tasks, while providing exceptional customer service. What You'll Do:
Financial Aid Assistant primary responsibilities will include:
Efficiently manage in-person student traffic and a high volume of telephone and email inquiries.
Provide outstanding customer service to prospective and current students and their families, guiding them through the financial aid process.
Recognize and complete high priority tasks in a timely manner.
Schedule appointments, process daily reports, and perform special projects to assist members of the Financial Aid and Scholarships team.
Thoughtfully resolve student issues and inquiries, directing students to appropriate student services offices as needed.
Retrieve and disseminate data for aid production and operations.
Manage private educational and federal Direct PLUS Loan processes, certifying loans, identifying adjustments, and processing de-certifications and denials.
Process and match FAFSA records in the student information system database (Ellucian Banner).
Assist in the development and delivery of informational resources for students, families, and colleagues.
Apply financial aid office policies and procedures, while maintaining current federal and state regulations and guidelines.
Receive and scan sensitive documents, while ensuring security of personally identifiable information.
Perform outreach to professors and colleagues to determine last date of attendance for withdrawn students.
Participate in professional development opportunities.

Requirements:
Required qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Minimum of one year of experience providing customer service in a fast-paced environment.
Strong written communication and organizational skills as evidenced in your application materials.
Computer competency with commonly used software, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Preferred:
Two or more years of experience providing customer service in a fast-paced environment.
Experience working in higher education.
Experience working with and serving diverse populations.
