SUNY Oneonta French Adjunct Lecturer in Oneonta, New York

The Department of Foreign Languages & Literatures at the State University of New York at Oneonta invites applications for a potential French Adjunct Lecturer position, beginning with three courses in Fall 2024. The initial appointment will be for one semester. Expectations include, but are not limited to, teaching three in-person sections of French: FREN 1001, Intermediate & Advanced French Language, and French Civilization (at the Intermediate-High level).The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures has major and minor programs in French and Spanish as well as the language part of French and Spanish Education. We are a small department with one full-time French faculty and five full-time Spanish faculty. Class sizes are capped at 25 students. To learn more about the University or the department, please visit www.oneonta.edu or https://suny.oneonta.edu/foreign-languages-and-literatures.Duties include but not limited to:Adjunct lecturers are responsible for all hours of instruction and may not change classes from in-person to online.Adjunct instructors consult with the full-time French faculty on material to be covered in each class but otherwise each instructor decides how/when to evaluate student work.Adjunct instructors are required to submit interim and final grades by the posted deadline and required to participate in all assessment data-gathering that affects their classes.Salary: $12,000. Requirements:Required Qualifications: Master's Degree completed or in progress at time of application.Native or near-native proficiency in both English and French.Teaching experience at either the high school or college level.Preferred:Experience working with diverse populations and/or teaching pedagogies and/or multicultural teaching experience.Additional Information:SUNY Oneonta enrolls about 5,500 students who pursue bachelor's or master's degrees or certificates in one of 70-plus academic programs.
