Join the Division of Finance and Administration at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Oneonta as the Internal Control Analyst. Expectations include, but are not limited to, assisting in the development, implementation, and updating of the University's internal control program and performing on-going assessment of risks related to compliance with Federal, NYS and SUNY policies and regulations. This position will also coordinate external audits and investigate and process small legal claims. The Internal Control Analyst will report to the Associate Vice President of Finance & Administration and Controller and will play a critical role in ensuring the effectiveness of internal controls within the University.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with evaluating, designing and testing of internal controls to enhance effectiveness.

  • Document internal control review findings, recommend improvements and conduct follow up activities.

  • Provide training to staff on internal control processes and best practices.

  • Act as a resource for departments in understanding and applying control measures.

  • Assist with external audits to facilitate audit activities and to ensure accurate reporting of findings.

  • Investigate, compile, and coordinate small claim cases.

  • Perform daily audit of procurement and travel documents.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or business related field.

  • 2+ years of professional work experience

  • Demonstrated analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in internal control or auditing.

  • Professional experience working in higher education.

  • Experience working with or serving diverse populations.
