Embrace the opportunity to be a driving force of the residential community asMove-In, Orientation, and Welcome Program Coordinator, a pivotal role within the Department of Residential Experience and Housing. The coordinator will provide leadership, programming, and support for the orientation program. This position will be responsible for the planning, development, and training of orientation leaders. The coordinator will organize the participation of offices across campus that are vital to the programming, assessment, advising, registration, housing, and transition of new students and their families. This position will plan for the upcoming orientation, move-in, and welcome cycle, communicate with participants both in writing and electronically, and work with the implementation committee to set up the agenda for the sessions. This position reports directly to the Associate Director of Orientation, Move-In, and Welcome.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manage the orientation, move-in, and welcome programs tailored for first-year students, transfer students, and their families during both summer and winter sessions.

  • Coordinate interactions among campus offices who participate on a regular basis with in-person and virtual orientation events.

  • Manage the events related to Orientation, Move-In and Welcome including overseeing all student Orientation Leaders.

  • Participate in the design, planning, development, and implementation of the orientation program for freshmen and transfer students.

  • Provide input and feedback for the development of orientation sessions and move-in programs.

  • Work collaboratively with offices and departments to create holistic educational sessions for each of the respective orientation programs.

  • Participate in and lead orientation sessions and move-in activities.

  • Assist, develop, and implement program assessment and evaluation plans for orientation programs, move-in, and the orientation leader programs.

  • Maintain records and statistics, retrieve, and compile statistical data, and prepare and submit reports and/or communications.

Requirements:

Requirements Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Two years of related experience, preferably in new student orientation, move-in or welcome in higher education.

  • Demonstrated supervisory experience of paraprofessional staff and volunteers.

  • Strong statistical and analytical skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities.

  • Experience leading collaborations and communications among multiple partners and stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's Degree

  • Three years of related experience, preferably in new student orientation, move-in or welcome in higher education.

  • Two or more years of demonstrated supervisory experience of paraprofessional staff and volunteers.

  • Experience with and commitment to working with a diverse, multicultural population.
