Re-Use Center Warehouse Assistant

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures accurate, professional, and efficient sales including cash and non-cash transactions, issue receipts, refunds, or change.

  • Complies with all cash handling procedures.

  • Greets and addresses all customers.

  • Provides suggestive sales and demonstrates product knowledge.

  • Accurately answers customer questions and responds to phone inquiries promptly and courteously.

  • Assist customers with loading and unloading purchases/donations.

  • Relays customer complaints to the Operation Manager.

  • Learn, understand, and maintain evolving systems and procedures for a friendly, professional safe and clean environment.

  • Model safe work practices and adhere to all safety policies, using proper personal protective equipment as required and reporting unsafe working conditions to supervisor.

  • Maintain knowledge of all donations and inventory.

  • Adhere to the set schedule to ensure proper coverage and staffing, providing proper notice for PTO and sick time.

  • Contribute to positive working relationships by providing exemplary customer service and willingness to support coworkers, volunteers, and trainees.

  • Support Re-Use center staff by communicating effectively, offering assistance, and providing great teamwork.

  • Ensure program outreach to diverse audiences, appreciate, and embrace diversity in all interactions with program participants, staff, volunteers, and the public.

  • Demonstrate commitment to and practice the mission of The Arc Otsego Re-Use Center.

  • Supports special events including creation of seasonal displays.

  • Maintains Agency hygiene and appearance standards.

  • able to work with flexibility in a continuous schedule of day, nights, holidays, and weekends, and be available for call-in shifts

  • Maintain an attractive, organized safe and clean retail and donation intake environment.

  • Accurately and professionally receive donations, following proper procedures, screening donations according to Re-Use Center guidelines.

  • Sort incoming donations into specified categories by department, type, and size.

  • Related duties as assigned.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

  • Education and/or Experience -High School Diploma/GED strongly preferred.

  • Mathematical Skills -Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar or line graphs.

  • Computer Skills -Must be able to clock in and out at the beginning and ending of each shift using E3. Must be able to use Datis to submit PTO, Sick Time requests and successfully submit timesheet at the end of shifts for the week.

  • Certifications, Licenses, Registrations -Must possess a valid NYS driver's license and an acceptable driving record. Successful completion of all required agency training.
