The Research Foundation for the State University of New York at SUNY Oneonta invites applications for a Recruitment Specialist with the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) at SUNY Oneonta.

CAMP is a unique migrant educational program designed to meet the needs of students from migrant and seasonal farm working families in pursuing higher education. Established in 1981, CAMP has successfully helped thousands of students accomplish their educational goals nationwide.

The intent of the program is to assist students in applying, entering, and succeeding at the college or university level. CAMP offers its students a pre-college transition and first year support to help them develop the skills needed to stay in school and successfully graduate. CAMP students must attend SUNY Oneonta to receive a scholarship. The program is set up to help not only the students but the parents as well. The goal is to educate the parent(s), so they feel that their child is being helped through a support system, which gives the student a family away from home. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Identify and recruit eligible students for the program.

  • Become knowledgeable with regard to eligibility requirements of the program and how to determine eligibility of referred students.

  • Develop and implement all Outreach/Recruitment and related activities for the program.

  • Travel and extended recruitment trips throughout NYS.

  • Facilitate enrollment process for 25 eligible students per school year. This to be done to coordinate with the College's admissions timeline.

  • Create a referral network through the state of NY.

  • Collaborate with other on campus offices to help ensure a successful enrollment process.

Salary: $42,000-$45,000 commensurate with experience. The position provides mileage expense reimbursement and an excellent benefits package. Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Highly motivated and creative individual

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Proven ability to work independently

  • Prior experience advising adolescents or young adults, preferably in an academic setting

  • Excellent oral, written communication and time management skills

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English

  • Valid driver's license

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in Education or Human Services

  • Knowledgeable about Federal and State Financial Aid

  • Experience working with culturally diverse or disadvantaged youth

  • Experience in sales (store or other qualifying work in sales)

  • Experience working with migrant and/or seasonal farm working families
