Job Description:

The Department of Student Experience at the State University of New York College at Oneonta invites applications for the position ofSophomore/Junior Experience Coordinator. Expectations include, but are not limited to, coordinating initiatives and providing support for Sophomore and Junior student populations.

The focus of the Office of Student Experience is on all facets of assisting new and returning students to the campus community through creating a supportive community that fosters student success and persistence. The office offers a wide array of resources for students including one-on-one mentoring, programming, and individualized outreach. Duties include but are not limited to: plan and implement the Year 2: All About YOU! Sophomore initiative including specific outreach programming for sophomore students; plan and implement the Junior Jumpstart initiative including specific outreach programming for junior students; partner with stakeholders to design and facilitate programming aimed at student retention including first-generation programming; assist with all aspects of welcoming students at the start of each semester; assist with the recruitment, hiring, and training of Dragon Guides (student peer mentors); collaborate with the Office of Student Experience team on programs and initiatives; represent the office at various evening/weekend events; and serve on college committees as appropriate.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • One year of experience working in a college setting in a peer mentor-type or professional mentor-type role.

  • Experience with program/event development, implementation, and evaluation.

  • Experience with a variety of social media channels.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree at time of start date (or within 6 credits from completion) in higher education, student affairs or related field.

  • Experience working directly with sophomore and/or junior students.

  • Experience with recruitment, selection, training and supervision of student staff.

  • Experience with Adobe Suite or other design tools.

  • Experience working in a student-focused office.

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities.

  • Experience working with and serving diverse populations.
