Description of Department:

The Department of Technology, within the School of Education, offers programs in Technology Education, Technology Management, and a Technology minor. Nine full-time faculty and a statewide contingent of adjuncts deliver dynamic professional and technical course offerings to about 220 undergraduate and graduate students preparing for careers as technology and engineering educators or as managers in business and industry. Our programs contain a combination of professional and laboratory-based courses where students develop skills in a variety of advanced technologies and practices. Description of Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will:

  • Instruct laboratory coursework in areas that may include: computer aided drawing, materials processing, computer technology and information systems, technical writing and literacy or other technical coursework depending on the candidate's area of expertise.

  • Instruct evening and summer courses as needed.

  • Initiate, develop, and participate in partnerships with schools, industries, and professional organizations throughout New York State and nationally.

  • Provide academic advisement to students.

  • Participate in department, school, and college service.

  • Commit to research and scholarship in Technology Education.

  • Manage an instructional laboratory.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Technology Education or a closely related field.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with faculty and students.

  • Demonstrated interest or engagement with social justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion issues, through professional, community, or teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. from an accredited university in Technology Education or a closely related field. Candidates who are ABD or currently enrolled in a doctoral program are encouraged to apply.

  • Teaching experience in Technology Education in public schools.

  • Postsecondary teaching experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to instruct undergraduate professional education courses.

  • Demonstrated ability to instruct graduate coursework in the M. S. Ed. in Technology Education.

  • Demonstrated leadership in the field of Technology Education.

In addition, the candidate will be expected to demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching and scholarship, commitment to undergraduate and/or graduate education, and possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues.
