Pfizer Inc. Senior Manager, Pearl River Site Affairs and External Engagement in Pearl River, New York

ROLE SUMMARY
Reporting to the Vaccine R&D Chief of Staff, the Senior Manager, Pearl River Site Affairs and External Engagement is responsible for planning, managing, and executing the Pearl River site external engagement activities. The Senior Manager collaborates with the Vaccine R&D Chief Operating Officer and Pearl River Leadership Team to develop and implement strategies for a range of external engagement activities, including local STEM education initiatives, academic partnerships, external site visits, job recruitment events, internships/postdocs, and community outreach. They will be responsible for driving the scientific engagement of Pearl River colleagues with the external community.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop long-term strategic plan and day-to-day management of external engagement activities for the Pearl River site and colleagues
Reinforce Pfizer Pearl River as a center for vaccine excellence and responsible corporate partner in our local communities

STEM Education
Inspire and sustain an active interest in STEM education among students in regions where Pfizer Vaccine R&D has a presence
Advance STEM education to local schools
Point of Contact with local school administrations
Organize interested Pearl River and Vaccine R&D colleagues to present materials
Lead STEM Education Working Group fostering an active and inclusive environment for interested scientists and clinicians
Collaborate and update STEM education materials and modules in coordination with, but not limited to: STEM Education Working Group, Pearl River Site Leadership Team, Legal, Human Resources, etc.
When applicable, offer career exploration sessions and Q&A with Pfizer colleagues to local schools

Community Outreach
Develop a social responsibility strategy for the Pfizer Pearl River Site ensuring we are taking appropriate responsibility to engage and support the communities in which we work
Actively engage with local philanthropies and plan events for colleagues to participate (e.g., United Way of Rockland County, Alzheimer's Association, Meals on Wheels, Toys for Tots, etc.).

Academic Engagement
Build and maintain relationships with Academic partners
Identify opportunities for the Site to build collaborations and engage in key scientific areas
Coordinate Symposiums, Lecture Series, Site Tours, etc., when appropriate
Point of Contact for student interns both in Vaccine R&D and at the Pearl River Site which includes the Pfizer Summer Student Worker Program
Collaborate with WRDM Postdoctoral Program and Site Leads to identify potential postdoctoral positions within Vaccine R&D and at the Pearl River site and support logistics for incoming Postdocs
Serve as a mentor for interns and Postdocs
In collaboration with Site Affairs colleagues, Human Resources and Talent Acquisition, lead job recruitment events at Universities

Internal Responsibilities
Member of the Pearl River Leadership Team and ensures external engagement initiatives are reflective of Site strategies and represent all Pearl River departments and groups
Represent Pearl River and Vaccine R&D on cross-site and WRDM education initiatives which include but are not limited to: Broadening Horizons, Rotational Program, Postdoc Program, WRDM RU Retreat, etc.
When applicable, manage and lead preparations, logistics, branding, and communication for events hosted at the Pearl River site, including but not limited to hosting government officials, site tours for students or academic groups, etc.
When applicable, in collaboration with Manager of Communications, lead internal Pearl River Site Event workstreams ensuring engagement and on-site logistics

QUALIFICATIONSBASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of Bachelor's degree
Minimum of 8 years of work experience in driving scientific engagement; experience in the pharma, biotech sector or life sciences strongly desired
Familiarity with the local Pearl River community strongly preferred
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills, creativity, and ability to consistently meet deadlines
Highly collaborative style: Intelligence and poise to work with scientists, researchers, and executives
A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently
Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while demonstrating a resourceful, positive attitude and superior work ethic

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
May be asked to attend community activities outside of regular office hours.
