Seasonal Position During the Summer - Evenings and Weekends

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Membership Director, the Child Watch Coordinator assists in overseeing the operations of the child watch and will ensure a safe and engaging environment for members and their child. The position is responsible for demonstrating YMCA leadership competencies to ensure the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA of Greater Rochester are conveyed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Hire, train and mentor child watch staff and adequately staff and schedule the child watch facilities. Provide support and guidance to volunteers.

· Greet each family, introduce self, and be responsible for following all procedures in the room, including the maintenance of ratios and enforcement of sign-in/out procedures.

· Follow all procedures of the room including but not limited to, cleaning schedule, sub-list procedures, call-in procedures and sign-in procedures.

· Actively engage members in the child watch center area.

· Maintain monthly statistics on attendance and reports monthly to the Supervisor.

· Coordinate and direct staff coverage of room activities and work closely with supervisor to improve program quality.

· Prepare supply orders and purchase supplies as directed, within budget guidelines.

· Responsible for the overall facility appearance, and related equipment.

· Report promptly to supervisor, any concerns regarding staffing, program quality, or general maintenance of child watch area.

· Responsible for assisting with the financial development of Annual Campaign.

· Attend all required meetings and training.

· Maintain all required certifications

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Have experience working with children under 13 years of age.

  • Bring to this position maturity, responsibility, and a sincere interest in providing a safe, fun, and educational experience for children.

  • Possess strong interpersonal, communication, and organization skills.

  • Must possess CPR/AED and First Aid certifications or have the ability within 60 days of employment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to supervise children by sight and sound at all times.

• Ability to move quickly to react to safety issues in the setting (i.e. climbing, aggressive behavior).

• Ability to move around the room to assist children and supervise children with daily activities, social interaction, physical and emotional needs.

• Ability to lift young children and objects (supplies) up to 40 lbs.

Salary Description

$17 per hour
