Each day, the engineering team is working to meet some of the most unique and exciting global challenges. The Sustaining Engineering Team is a global current product engineering team working to evaluate, troubleshoot and fix issues reported by our customers.

We are seeking an innovative, data-driven, results-oriented Sustaining Software Engineering Co-op to contribute to our continued legacy of innovation.

What will you be doing?

The Sustaining Software Engineer is responsible for troubleshooting, root cause identification, problem resolution, and maintenance of Windows-based software solutions that shape the future of the security industry. This includes working with the latest technologies and exciting applications like biometrics, smart cards, access control, ID management, and digital video. The successful candidate will:

  • Participate in the maintenance of an existing software product

  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with local and international teams

  • Analyze and resolve complex software problems from field deployments

  • Design, prototype, and implement new solutions

  • Utilize the latest C++ / C# techniques in code development

  • Utilize the latest tools & techniques in software debugging and troubleshooting

  • Work closely with members of Technical Support, Quality Assurance, Product Management, and end-users as needed

What skills must you have?

  • Experience with C or C++, and SQL

  • Experience with Microsoft development tools, including Visual Studio

  • Knowledge of version control and defect management tools

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Highly motivated, a fast learner who works well both independently and within a team.

What would make us drop everything and pick up the phone to call you?

  • Experience across the full life cycle of server applications

  • Experience interfacing hardware with software

  • REST API development

  • Experience with MFC, COM, XML, MS SQL Server

  • Experience with multi-threaded applications

  • Experience with relational databases

  • Knowledge of security systems: access control, video surveillance, intrusion

Education requirement

  • Working towards a Bachelor of Science or higher degree in a computer-related field.

  • GPA must be greater than or equal to 3.0 GPA

Additional requirements:

  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident.

  • COVID-19 vaccines will be required for all newly hired Carrier U.S. Salaried employees and Co-ops.
