Program Assistant Coordinator, AIP Research Foundation for SUNY, Plattsburgh Center for Neurobehavioral Health, Psychology Position Summary The Center for Neurobehavioral Health (Center) at the State University of New York, College at Plattsburgh works with the New York State Department of Health, New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) to provide a variety of programs to the local community, including Autism Intervention Programs (AIP). The Center is currently seeking qualified applicants for a Program Assistant Coordinator for the Nexus program. Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator and Principal Investigator/Project Director, the Assistant Coordinator will help to provide safe and therapeutic programming for 20-30 children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator and Principal Investigator/Project Director, provide safe and therapeutic programming for 20-30 children and adolescents with ASD. Responsibilities will include assisting with facilitating program sessions, managing behavioral issues, and ensuring that appropriate supplies for sessions are present. The position is nonacademic and part-time and paid at an hourly rate between 4 and 8 hours weekly. The program operates during the Spring and Fall semesters (on Saturdays) and holds a 6-week summer session. Primary Tasks 1. Assists the Project Coordinator in planning and overseeing the Nexus Program on the days of operation including, but not limited to: interacting with participant caregivers, assisting with sign-in/out sheets for participants and staff, assisting with running activities and lesson, keeping track of behavior plans and rewards, and keeping attendance of participants and staff. Expected weekly hours: 4-8 hours/week. 2. Assists in providing guidance and support to Nexus program staff including but not limited to: meeting regulatory agency requirements, behavior plan development and implementation, and positive behavioral approaches while serving participants. 3. Assists the Project Coordinator with ongoing supervision and support to program staff and facilitating weekly staff meetings. 4. Provides support to staff pertaining to serious reportable incidents, and participates in investigations when needed. 5. Assists Co-Directors and Project Coordinator in providing mandatory training and supervising of students from various SUNY Programs (e.g., interns, volunteers). 6. Assists the Project Coordinator with maintaining program supplies. 7. Acts as the Project Coordinator in their absence. Required Qualifications 1. Experience working with children and adolescents with ASD 2. Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills 3. Strong organizational skills 4. Ability to work independently Preferred Qualifications 1. Degree/certification as a school-based professional (e.g., MA/CAS in School Psychology; Teaching Assistant Certification) 2. Supervision experience Salary: Competitive hourly rate commensurate with qualifications. Average rate, $25-40/hour.
