Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union Human Resources Specialist in Poughkeepsie, New York

Hudson Valley Credit Union is currently recruiting for the position of Human Resources Assistant. Primary Function: Support the recruitment and employee relations functions of the Human Resources department. Responsible for team administrative tasks as well as the recruitment and onboarding of new employees, record retention and ensuring a positive employee experience.

  • Accountable for the accurate completion of all new employee paperwork to ensure a positive new employee experience. Monitor systems for documentation completion and follow-up as needed. Create personnel and benefit files. Order and distribute employee name badges.

  • Document and track human resources actions by completing forms, status changes, reports, logs, and data entry. Support head count reconciliation process.

  • Responsible for overall file room maintenance, including retrieval and filing of all employee documentation in employee personnel files and systems. Ensure files are compliant to state and federal regulations within 90 days of a personnel action, including, but not limited to, hire, promotion, transfer and termination.

  • Perform phone screen pre-checks to ensure candidates meet requirements.

  • Evaluate and approve point maintenance requests.

  • Review and respond to unemployment insurance notices within department of labor deadlines. Prepare associated documentation and coordinate hearing notifications and documents.

  • Responsible for the temporary and seasonal recruitment process. Assist with the HVCU internship program.

  • Plan and execute human resource events, including but not limited to recruitment career fairs, community events, and employee events.

  • Assist the HR Business Partners and the SVP of Human Resources and Organizational Development in legal and regulatory investigations. Ensure credibility, currency and accuracy of files related to investigations.

  • Support compliance requirements by preparing and submitting annual state and federal regulatory reports, assisting with the AAP process, and ensure accuracy of regulatory posters.

  • Ensure HR Assistant procedures are accurate and compliant with all Credit Union policies as well as Federal and State regulatory requirements.

  • Adhere to all Credit Union policies, procedures, and regulatory agency requirements. Participate in all required and recommended training and development including, but not limited to, Bank Secrecy Act training (BSA) and demonstrate attained knowledge. Participate on Credit Union teams, projects and strategic initiatives when the opportunity arises. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

  • Responsible for regular and predictable attendance including punctuality.

  • High School Diploma, General Education Development (GED) certificate, or state authorized high school equivalent certificate required

  • Bachelors Degree preferred

  • PHR Certification or 5 years Human Resources experience (EEOC, NYHRC, AAP) in lieu of PHR certification required

  • 2 Years work history in Human Resources required

  • Experience with recruitment and HR systems preferred
