Star Gas Products Service Tech, Propane Gas CDL A/B Hazmat (FT) in Poughkeepsie, New York
RESPONSIBILITIES: Service Technicians are paired with service apprentices on a maintenance team to:- Provide excellent customer service- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, removal, and repair of propane systems and appliances- Performing seasonal services like cleaning and maintenance, filter replacements- On-call duty rotation is required to include weekends and evenings- Perform duties in a safe and efficient manner conforming to federal, state, and local guidelines and codes.- Manage service vehicle maintenance: to be clean, free of debris, update maintenance records, perform pre and post-trip inspections, report vehicle conditions to keep vehicles running safely- Load and unload company vehicles- Operate a crane/dolly to move propane tanks, work trenching equipment to run in-ground gas service lines, restore propane tanks by sanding and painting- Participate in in-person and online educational training- Other responsibilities may include propane delivery, shop and plant maintenance as needed.REQUIREMENTS:- Age: 21 and above with a neat, clean appearance- Proficient verbal and written communication skills to complete paperwork- Team player who displays a professional attitude to all customers, contractors, and teammates- Prompt, safety-conscious, enthusiastic, committed, proactive, resourceful- Clean, safe driving record with a valid CDL driver’s license class C, B, or A with Hazmat, tanker, and air brake endorsements with valid medical card/certificat- Mechanically-inclined skills are helpful: experience with hand tools, power tools, and test equipment- Basic troubleshooting, problem-solving and diagnostic skills- Experience with appliance installation and repair, natural gas or LP gas piping is helpful. HVAC experience is a plus.- Ability to lift and pull equipment that weighs 50 to 75 lbs. as well as bend, climb, reach, stoop, and twist- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather and driving conditionsPlease note that background checks and drug screens are performed as part of our pre-employment hiring process.Star Gas Products, Inc. is a locally owned, family propane delivery business with over 75 years of experience.
