USTA 2025 US Open Player Operations Staffing Coordinator in Queens, New York

The Role

Working closely with the Staffing Manager and Manager of Professional Tennis Operations, the US Open Player Operations Staffing Coordinator is heavily focused on the administrative aspects of staffing, including recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, performance management, and conflict resolution for a large team of event staff.

Dates:Monday, May 19, 2025 - Monday, 8 September, 2025.

May 19, 2025 - August 4, 2025 - A pproximately 5 hours weekly

National Tennis Center: August 4, 2025 - September 8, 2025.

  • Collaborate with the Manager of Professional Tennis Operations, and the Staffing Manager to determine staffing needs for various player service areas.

  • Assist with the hiring process and onboarding process, including extending offers, processing paperwork, and ensuring all new hires complete necessary training and onboarding procedures.

  • Assist with creating and staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage for all player service areas throughout the tournament. Develop and maintain staff rosters, taking into account individual availability, skills, and experience. This includes managing shift assignments, time-off requests, and any necessary adjustments to the schedule.

  • Supervise and oversee the performance of event staff, specifically in the Men’s Locker Room, providing guidance, feedback, and support as needed. Monitor staff adherence to policies and procedures. Work with the Locker Room Supervisor on performance evaluations and address any performance issues promptly and professionally.

  • Serve as a point of contact for staff-related issues and concerns. Address and resolve conflicts fairly and effectively, escalating issues to the Manager of Professional Tennis Operations and Staffing Manager as necessary. Promote a positive and productive work environment.

    Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience in staff management, including hiring, training, scheduling, performance management, and conflict resolution.

  • Experience working in a large-scale, fast-paced event environment, ideally within the sports industry

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.

  • Flexibility to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required during the tournament.

    What We Offer

    Compensation: This position is non-exempt with an hourly rate of $25 per hour during the pre-tournament period. During the tournament, the role transitions to an exempt position with a total salary of $5,500.
