FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Drama, Theatre & Dance Department at Queens College, the City University of New York, is accepting applications for an Assistant Professor of Directing. This is a full-time tenure-track appointment.

Duties include teaching courses in all levels of directing for undergraduate students, play analysis, acting and performance, and directing for our main stage season. Maintaining a robust continued career of professional directing in LORT, Off-Broadway, and similar venues is an essential component of this position, and is required to achieve tenure. We are seeking artists who have worked actively to present diverse stories on the American stage and who understand the importance of inclusion in studio and classroom environments.

QUALIFICATIONS

An MFA and seven years of experience or ten years of professional experience as a stage director for live theater is required for this position.

We are looking for mid-career professionals with a demonstrated career trajectory in major national and international venues. Experience in LORT, major regional, and Off-Broadway venues is preferred. College level teaching experience is also preferred. A Bachelor’s degree is required for this position.
