Police Athletic League Assistant Teacher in Queens, New York

The Police Athletic League (PAL) is the largest independent youth organization in New York City that provides educational and recreational activities for children and young adults. PAL Inc. and The New York City Police Department work in partnership to provide communities with summer and after-school recreational and educational activities.

We are looking for an Assistant Teacher who will be responsible to assist in the creation and provision of appropriate environments and experiences to foster the physical, social-emotional and intellectual growth of preschool children. Assist with lesson planning and completing observations and assessments for children. 

This position is available in Far Rockaway, Woodside, and Long Island City Locations - Queens

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the classroom teacher be able to assist in the creation

  • Provision of appropriate environment and experiences

  • Foster the physical, social emotional and intellectual growth of preschool children.

  • Assist with Lesson Planning and completing observations and assessments for children.

  • Will have the ability to establish and maintain professional relationships and sound educational program; to be articulate, pleasant and resourceful.

Skills/Knowledge Required

  • Minimum 2 years of college - 64 credits (at least 30 credits in early childhood)

  • Knowledge of Creative Curriculum 

  • Knowledge of NYC Dept. Health and Mental Hygiene daycare regulations

  • Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standard 

  • Working knowledge of CLASS 

  • Bilingual Preferred

Salary range: $29,783.78 -$33,554.29
