New York Edge is seeking a knowledgeable, highly-organized, and passionate individual to fill the role of a Bilingual College Advisor. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for fostering a college-bound environment, support students’ successful transition to college, and ensure that all students are meeting all requirements to enter college upon graduating high school. This position will provide direct supportive service and follow-up to program participants while also delivering contractual services such as academic support, job readiness training, career exploration, site information and counseling.

Monday – Friday, 9:30am – 5:30pm

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist participants define and develop educational/career plans

  • Assist students in navigating the college search and application process

  • Track students’ academic progress using report cards, progress reports, and periodic assessments

  • Facilitate college admission and financial aid workshops to educate students and parents about college admissions process

  • Assist students with completing college and financial aid application

  • Plan, organize, develop and implement career events, and publications

  • Refer students to appropriate resources when needed

  • Plan and conduct Career Days, Job Fairs, and College Fairs

  • Support student recruitment efforts for New York Edge

  • Other duties as assigned

Required skills:

  • Fluency in Spanish is required

  • Passion for New York Edge mission and youth development

  • Reliable, organized, flexible and punctual

  • Full understanding of the college admissions process.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program staff and school partners

  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with proven ability to interact with a diverse range of individuals both in person and over the phone, applying tact and discretion as situations demand

  • Must have excellent organizational, time management and follow-up skills

  • Responsible and professional conduct that serves as role model to staff and youth

  • Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines

  • Must demonstrate ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word


  • Bachelor’s degree required with preference in Education, Psychology, or Social Work.

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of work experience in urban education, including experience presenting workshops to students and teachers.

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of prior experience working with high schools in the college admission, financial aid and scholarship process.

  • Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination is required

The Bilingual College Advisor will be required to report to their assigned school building and interact with students, staff, parents and school administration while following all local, state, and federal Covid-19 guidelines, policies and mandates.

At time of offer and acceptance, the job requires safety and security clearances through the Department of Education and Department of Health.
