ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Borough Director will lead a group of committed program staff whose primary goal is to ensure high-quality, safe, and comprehensive afterschool experiences for students enrolled in our programs. They will manage a portfolio of schools (#) in the (example Bronx & Manhattan) and provide direct operations support to site leadership, manage all aspects of the school partnership, support the management of local resources and partnerships, manage budgets, design effective communication strategies for all stakeholders, oversee contract compliance and reporting, manage the procurement process for all portfolio sites, and serve as the primary liaison for government relations and funder relations.
A primary focus will be to execute the implementation and management of cutting edge programs that create engaging and extraordinary learning experiences in the areas of extended-day Sports, Arts, Academic, STEM, SEL and Leadership programming in the NYC public schools.
$85,000 to $100,000. Salary offered is commensurate with experience and credentials.
Overall Job Functions
Work closely with program team including site directors. Provide guidance, support, mentoring, coaching to site leaders.
Works closely with the Sr. Director of Program Operations in the management, implementation and delivery of extended learning opportunities.
Represent NYE in communicating and interacting with Principals and the community.
Ensure effective delivery of culturally competent and inclusive programming.
Lead and direct different cross-functional teams, projects, and initiatives concurrently.
Use stakeholders’ feedback to inform necessary improvements and adjustments in programs.
Foster a growth mindset among team members to create a culture of continuous teaching, learning and innovation.
Essential Job Functions:
Develop and retain strong site leadership and staff.
Strengthen NYE’s presence in the community.
Assess site performance ensuring the kids are getting the highest level of service.
Ensure that each Program Director are fully knowledgeable of the Champions Club Manual, which includes but limited to, program model and design, exemplary program schedules, trip safety protocols, NYSAN, principal communication tool, staff attendance/payroll, participation in agency events, compliance, work scopes, student data, SACC, compliance, staff recruitment/retention, and parent involvement.
Must successfully manage workload and deadlines independently of direct supervision.
Work with department leadership teams to ensure program models are aligned with funder requirements and guidelines.
Support Directors with effective recruitment enrollment plans for programs
Conduct quality assessment site visits using NYE’s site visit evaluation tool.
Cultivate relationships between key after-school stakeholders, Program Directors, organizational partners, and principals
Encourage and support on-site Directors and line staff in their professional development (identify problem areas and potential weaknesses) to improve overall program operations.
Assist Program Directors in the needs assessment within their school communities and monitor the implementation of strategies to address those needs.
Write annual performance appraisals of Program Directors and review and approve on-site staff appraisals.
Ensure NYSAN is administered quarterly.
Participate in the grant review process in response to requests for proposals to secure state, federal, private and local funding.
Provide on-going constructive feedback to staff diplomatically pressing forward NYE’s mission, goals and values.
Accountable for ensuring each program maintains an emotionally and physically safe environment for youth and families that meets all compliance and safety requirements set forth by the organization, DOE, DOH, DYCD and applicable labor laws.
Oversee compliance with all funders and New York Edge policies on procurement and subcontractor/independent contractor agreements at Champion Clubs.
Knowledge and understanding of both the academic delivery as well as the operations of programs.
Knowledge of effective sports, arts, stem, leadership and academic programming.
A demonstrated ability to lead and energize multi-disciplinary work teams to respond to needs and get results
Be a proactive member of the program leadership team
Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with proven ability to interact with a diverse range of individuals both in person, on zoom, and over the phone, while applying tact and discretion as situations require.
Bachelor’s degree required. Masters preferred.
Eight years of management experience in the field of education and/or youth development.
Eight years professional experience working with youth K-8th including supervisory/administrative responsibilities.
Knowledge of DOE core educational requirements helpful. Understanding DOE common core standards helpful.
Must have advanced computer skills: Adobe Suite, Photoshop, Word, Excel, Power Point, and other programs as needed.
Ability to travel to the sites and throughout the NYE service areas.

Must provide proof of vaccination against the Covid-19 virus.
Must be able to adhere to all federal, state, and local mandates regarding the Covid-19 virus which include but are not limited to wearing PPE and remaining socially distant whenever possible.
