Yeshiva University Building Manager in Queens, New York

Position Summary:
The Building Manager spearheads, participates in, and directs the day to day maintenance at the Girls High School, located in Holliswood, NY.

Position Responsibilities:
Ensures the general cleaning and maintenance of the school building and campus.
Review weekly setup requests and ensures completion of all requested work on campus.
Create schedules for the maintenance staff to ensure adequate coverage based on the school schedule and any additional programs in the building, including after school hours and weekends.
Review accuracy of timecards and billing.
Ensure adequate inventory of all facilities related supplies and materials, including cleaning supplies, bathroom supplies, paper goods for school functions, etc.
Utilize our Purchasing system to procure the appropriate supplies.
Communicates and works in tandem with our third party cleaning service to ensure that all building needs are attended to throughout the school day and summer season. This includes set up for various spaces and events on a daily basis.
Supervises seasonal gardening and shoveling responsibilities as needed.
Oversee and actively clean and maintain all school refrigerators and freezers on a consistent basis.
Ensures that all lunch periods are both setup and cleaned up. Assists lunch vendors as necessary.
Fosters, encourages, and facilitates open communication between the maintenance crew and the office staff.
Proactively circulates throughout the building to ensure that all spaces are presentable and well maintained.
Work alongside the staff of the external cleaning company workers, coordinating assignments and reviewing and approving timecards.
Responds to the school administrators and office staff in a timely fashion.
Continually searches for ways to increase satisfaction of faculty, students, staff and other constituents.

Experience & Educational Background:
Associate's Degree and 2-4 years of experience managing a diverse housekeeping and maintenance environment or a combination of skills and experience is required.
Certification in industrial housekeeping/facilities operations is required.

Skills & Competencies:
Ability to communicate fluently and read and write in both English and Spanish.
Skilled technically in regards to all aspects of building maintenance, including basic handiwork.
Ability to lift heavy objects.
Flexible and versatile - adapts quickly, willing to change, and has a diverse skill set to accomplish a wide variety of tasks.
Attention to detail, eager to please.
