New York Edge Compliance Specialist (P/T) in Queens, New York

Summary:

Under direct supervision of the Compliance Manager, The Compliance Specialist (P/T) position handles the various day to day pre-employment related operations within the New York Edge Compliance Department including communicating with staff and management regarding the processing of required background checks for potential employees. The Compliance Specialist (P/T) will have experience with pre-hire candidate background requirements and provide high levels of customer support.

Schedule:

Up to 25 hours a week, Monday-Friday

Pay:

$19.00/hr

Job Type:

Part-Time Hourly

Primary Job Functions:

  • Complete employment background checks adhering to City, State and Federal contract and licensing requirements

  • Serve as the main point of contact during the background check process to candidates providing high levels of customer support and follow up with candidates and external agencies

  • Update individual candidate tracker systems and report out to candidates and management as needed

  • Maintain organized electronic and hard-copy filing systems

  • Meet with new or returning employees to collect and review compliance paperwork ensuring complete and accurate submissions during assigned office hours and as needed

  • Conduct periodic site compliance file audits as assigned

  • Additional duties as assigned

    Supervisory Reports:

  • Submit status updates to Compliance Manager on candidate background checks as needed

  • Updates internal candidate tracking system on a daily basis

    Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree preferred or requisite years of experience

  • 1 year of satisfactory experience in Human Resources, Compliance or related field

  • Ability to exhibit a high level of confidentiality

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work accurately, with strong attention to detail

  • Demonstrated proficiency in organizing and managing multiple projects

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently

  • Proficient with Google Applications and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), including document editing and tracking changes
