Job Summary: Group Leaders are an integral part of the day to day management of the after school program, helping with homework, facilitating some activities, ensuring program safety and cleaning program areas.
Essential Functions:
Implement the After School curriculum, helping scholars to improve literacy competencies, values and physical fitness in an activity based after school environment.
Ensure the health, safety and well-being of scholars in the program by providing close supervision of all activities
Maintain accurate program documentation (incident reports, accident report, behavior logs, attendance & sign-in/sign-out sheets)
Assist scholars with homework
Plan and create innovative age appropriate activities and develop lesson plans to conduct them on a daily basis
Actively participate in all training sessions, designated meetings and special events
Attend the minimum required 30 hours of staff training during the school year and Saturday trainings
Provide support to any Activity Specialist in implementing activities
Adhere to all DOH standards and SONYC/CPCMS Standards
Preparation of the learning environment and necessary materials/supplies
Distribute student meals
Clean program assigned areas (cafeteria, auditorium, classrooms, etc.)
Additional responsibilities as assigned by direct supervisor
Pay: $17/hr
Qualifications:
High School Diploma required
One year of after school work experience, one full summer camp work experience, or two years of related experience
Interest and experience in youth development, academic enrichment and arts
A genuine enthusiasm for developing professional skills through training opportunities, observation, coaching, and feedback
Availability between 2:00-6:00 p.m.; 15 hours per week Monday-Friday during the school year; or for Summer Program hours (varies)
Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with a broad range of people including school staff and parents
Ability to meet School Age Child Care (SACC) requirements including background check and medical clearance
Pay Rate: $17/hr
