Summary:

New York Edge is seeking a highly organized, knowledgeable, and professional individual to fill the role of Human Resources Benefits Manager. In this full-time position you will be the subject matter expert responsible for administering benefits. This includes being the lead for and communicator of the various employee benefits the organization offers which includes health, dental, vision, and 403b programs. The position is the HR lead overseeing and implementing wellness initiatives. Initiatives include health fairs, our flu shots program, posting health and wellness information on the HR intranet, and sending out communications related to health and wellness to the employees. The position reports directly to the Chief HR Officer

Mon-Fri, 35 hrs/wk

Remote:

Temporary Remote. You will be asked to report to the main office to complete tasks as needed.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Administer employee benefits programs such as medical, dental, vision plans, life and disability insurance plans, 403(B) and Ameriflex.

  • Participate with Executive Leadership during plan renewal negotiations with brokers and Manage key relationships with Brokers, Consultants, and Providers to ensure high quality service levels with effective program design

  • Conduct new hire benefit orientations.

  • Maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes – FMLA, PFL, STD, COBRA, enrollments, terminations and changes.

  • Ensure compliance and required filings with government regulations i.e. EEO1, OSHA, ACA. Ensures timeliness and accuracy of required filings.

  • Reconcile the processing of monthly billings and conduct quarterly audits on plans by examining payroll record, benefit invoices and HRIS system.

  • Manage all employee leave plans and workers’ compensation claims, including but not limited to FMLA, ADA, military leave; partner with CHRO and managers for all related employee relations and/or ADA accommodations.

  • Plan and lead our annual Open Enrollment process; including communicating new plans or changes to existing plans and other supporting materials both in writing and in-person meetings

  • Manage open enrollment process - oversee communication and training materials, collaborate with HRIS team to prepare system with plan changes.

  • Stays informed of changes to state and federal laws pertaining to health and welfare benefits; FMLA, PFL, Pregnancy Leave, and Workers Compensation to ensure compliance

  • Work directly with broker, insurance carrier and retirement plan administrator to ensure company compliance regarding: required notice distribution, audits of benefits plans & deductions, and ensuring reporting requirements are met timely

  • Partner with Payroll to resolve issues on both health/welfare and 403(B) plans

  • Resolve escalated employee questions and problems by interpreting benefits policies and procedures.

  • Bill employees for health and welfare, voluntary life, FSA medical and dependent care contributions during leave period.

  • Responsible for the tracking of COVID-19 quarantine employees.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Experience and Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in Business Administration, Human Resources or other related field

  • Minimum 2 years experience working in Human Resource position as a generalist

  • Minimum 2 years experience specializing in the Benefits area of Human Resources or in lieu of benefits experience, 4 years of Human Resource generalist experience that includes work with benefits

  • Demonstrated ability in using Microsoft Office applications

  • Highly proficient in preparing and maintaining spreadsheets using Excel

  • Strong Customer Service knowledge and skills

  • Ability to work as a team member with the Human Resource Department and throughout the organization

  • Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination Required

    The Human Resources Benefits Manager will be required to report to the main office building and interact with staff and building administration while following all local, state, and federal Covid-19 guidelines, policies and mandates.

At the time of offer and acceptance, the job requires safety and security clearances through the Department of Education and Department of Health.
