New York Edge Performing Arts Program Manager in Queens, New York

New York Edge is seeking a knowledgeable, creative, and passionate person to fill the role of Performing Arts Program Manager. In this full time role, you will provide support for the educational needs of all After-school Performing Arts Activities, which take place in approximately 130 New York City Public Schools. The activities include but are not limited to Dance, Theater, Music, Step & Cheerleading. The Performing Arts Program Manager will take a lead in curriculum writing and development, facilitate projects, organize cultural trips and events, conduct outreach and recruitment, and perform daily administrative tasks to ensure highest quality programming.

The Performing Arts Program Manager will report to the Director of Art and assist and work with the Art Department staff to plan, prepare and conduct several annual events including but not limited to, Art Day, Girl Redesigned, and the Spring Arts Showcase.

Job Type:

Full Time; 35 Hours per week

Annual salary:

Up to $65,000. Salary offered will be commensurate with experience and credentials.


  • Strategizes the basic framework for all NYE Performing Arts after-school programs

  • Facilitates for the educational needs of the NYE Performing Arts activities and staff, including but not limited to: Dance, Theater, Music, Step & Cheerleading

  • Maintains a pool of teaching artists for recommendation and placement by interviewing candidates regularly

  • Designs and maintains the Performing Arts Curriculum aligned with NYC and National standards for School Year & Summer Programs

  • Helps organize, lead and cultivate the curriculum team of writers and offer support where needed

  • Helps designs and lead a year-long sequence of Performing arts professional development workshops for all Performing arts staff

  • Initiates and maintains relationships with art organizations and vendors

  • Offers individual guidance and one-on-one assistance to improve instruction, lesson development, and classroom management to all art specialists

  • Coordinates Performing Arts Educational opportunities including: guest artists, Art for Schools, Cultural Trips and Showcase Performance events.

  • Visit sites, assess instruction, provide guidance, and offer constructive feedback/evaluation reports

  • Assists and orders materials, supplies, tools and equipment for the Performing arts programs. Maintain positive relationship with our long standing vendors

  • Help plan and set-up art department events

  • Research and organize student trips to arts venues or professional development trips for teachers

  • Take part in specialized projects or committees for the organization as needed


  • BA or BFA in the Arts

  • Minimum of three to five years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required

  • Must have passion for NYE mission and demonstrated interest in the field of education and youth development

  • Candidates who are qualified in more than one activity are preferred

  • Must have a personal art practice and experience in a variety of Performing art media

  • Must have knowledge in Performing arts terminology, history and resources

  • Must have prior experience successfully teaching and instructing youth in one or more Performing arts genre

  • Must drive and have a car.

  • Must pass pre-employment background investigation including but not limited to employment history and criminal background check .

    Covid-19 Related Requirements:

  • Must provide proof of vaccination against the Covid-19 virus.

  • Must be able to adhere to all federal, state, and local mandates regarding the Covid-19 virus which include but are not limited to wearing PPE and remaining socially distant whenever possible.

    At time of offer and acceptance, the job requires safety and security clearances through the Department of Education and Department of Health.
