USTA (seasonal) Guest Services Area Director in Queens, New York

In this role, you will wear many different hats and have the opportunity to assist and deliver customer service to visitors from around the world. The Role

  • Greet and guide all guests in a welcoming and friendly manner

  • Respond to guest concerns respectfully and calmly

  • Report unattended bags and packages, medical situations, incidents or emergencies(immediately to command center)

  • Ensure team members maintain a positive, outgoing demeanor adhering to the core expectations of our guest services team at all times

  • Provide a safe environment for the guest services staff and guests

  • Actively collaborate with all other Area Directors as well as appointed Supervisors

  • Handle complaints, disturbances, and related problems with guests

  • Report and provide follow-up on incidents damage/injury to the facility or individuals

  • Responsible for ensuring all staff are aware of their schedule/shift times and resolving issues such as tardiness, no-shows, etc. directly with staff

  • Responsible for communicating shift start/end changes to staff throughout the tournament

  • Responsible for mediating staff conflicts, disturbances, and issues while communicating with the HR Manager in real-time

  • Establish and maintain effective working relations with police, fire, EMS, security personnel, and safety organizations

  • Ensure that employees at posts are well aware of their job description and duties assigned

  • Maintain deployment numbers at all times

  • Provide on-the-job training, coaching, and development for all supervisors and guest services employees

  • Brief all supervisors and staff each day

  • Update all staff on match locations and crowd movement

  • Responsible for assisting and participating in area emergency, evacuation plan, and evacuation drills

  • Possess a high level of area knowledge and the operations associated within the area assigned

  • Distinguish appropriate credential access and authorized holders

    Who You Are

  • Strong desire to lead, coach, and mentor

  • Capable of problem solving and managing interpersonal conflict

  • Previous guest, customer service and event experience in a supervisory capacity

  • Punctual and presentable shift attendance, neatly groomed in a clean, well-maintained uniform

  • Available to work for the full duration of the US Open tournament

  • Must be able to work 12+ hour shifts and be available days, nights and weekends

  • Willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions and able to stand for extended periods

  • Personable and proactive team player with excellent communication skills

  • Remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment as well as during stressful situations

  • Bilingual (preferred)

    Rate of pay: $400 per day

    $35 daily meal allowance during tournament (via credential)
