Role Overview:

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Program Director to support the management of our year-round Youth Development Centers, which include after-school, holiday, and summer camp programs. The Assistant Program Director will act as the primary leader in the Program Director’s absence, ensuring the successful delivery of engaging and educational activities across areas such as Academic Support, Leadership Development, STEM, Literacy, Healthy Living, and Physical Recreation. Additionally, the role includes ensuring compliance with all protocols, policies, and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Administration: Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of after-school, holiday, and summer camp programs.

  • Staff and Participant Supervision: Provide oversight and support to staff, ensuring high-quality program delivery and participant engagement.

  • Data Management: Maintain accurate records of attendance, participant information, and program schedules using the after-school database.

  • Policy Enforcement: Ensure program expectations, policies, and protocols are upheld, as established by the Program Director.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Program Director and School Principal to deliver comprehensive services and meet program goals.

  • Event Organization: Assist with recruitment initiatives and lead the planning and execution of special events, including talent shows, award ceremonies, and parent meetings.

  • Communication: Report updates, challenges, or changes to the Program Director. Lead monthly staff meetings and contribute to bi-monthly “Rockstar Meetings.”

  • Safety and Compliance: Conduct monthly fire drills, monitor staff adherence to Department of Health (DOH) regulations, and maintain daily food service records.

  • Support and Training: Provide coaching and guidance to Educational Specialists, Activity Specialists, Senior Group Leaders, Group Leaders, and Volunteers. Complete a minimum of 15 hours of School Age Child Care (SACC) training per fiscal year.

  • Operations Management: Maintain office equipment, manage inventory, and oversee other administrative tasks or special projects as assigned by the Program Director.

    Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Education, Sociology, Psychology, or a related field.

  • Experience: At least three years of experience working with youth (experience with elementary or middle school students preferred) and one year of staff supervision experience.

  • Skills: Strong interpersonal, organizational, multitasking, and communication skills.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with middle school youth from diverse backgrounds.

  • Knowledge of youth development principles, including Social Emotional Learning (SEL).

  • Proven ability to motivate participants in areas such as Academic Support, STEM, Leadership Development, and Healthy Living.

  • Additional Requirements:

  • Flexibility to attend occasional morning, evening, or weekend meetings and trainings.

  • Commitment to a strength-based and youth development approach.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Successful completion of all required background checks and clearances.

    Schedule:

Monday – Friday, 35 hours per week
