Position Summary:

Groundskeeper/ Cleaner position is a unique job opportunity that will combine both skills into one. With emphasis on groundskeeping responsibilities, the cleaner position will be mostly utilized during off season groundskeeping months with some exceptions or when a need arises.

Groundskeeper will require maintaining site landscaping, lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers, turf and irrigation. Knowledge of operating grounds keeping various hand and power tools is a must. Follows the scope of work assigned by Supervisor and as per contract specifications.

Cleaner will be responsible for all cleaning tasks assigned by Supervisor and as per contract specifications. Tasks may include but not limited, to general commercial office cleaning, general house cleaning, floor care services, and window cleaning.

Essential Groundskeeper Accountabilities:

Groundskeeper Supervisor/ Site Supervisor

GROUNDSKEEPER PERFORMANCE AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs groundskeeping duties.

  • Mows lawn using hand and power tools.

  • Trims edges around walks, flower beds, parking lots, walls etc.

  • Basic landscaping such as planting flowers, grass, shrubs, bushes, spreading mulch, and replenishing soil.

  • Keeps grounds free from trash, litter and debris, and emptying trash receptacles.

  • Cuts down tree limbs that pose a danger, ten feet or lower.

  • Prunes or trims shrubs, hedges or other vegetation using shears, pruners or chain saws.

  • Minor pruning or trimming of trees.

  • Cares for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, or trimming or edging around flower beds, walks, or walls.

  • Removes leaves using gas powered blowers, leaf vacuums or hand rakes.

  • Provides proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, flower beds, areas round building walls.

  • Removes weeds from flower beds and shrub beds.

  • Rakes mulch and prune grounds as needed.

  • Removes snow by using shovel or snow blower.

  • Stages equipment, supplies and material for daily, weekly operation.

  • Lifts/moves heavy objects, materials, shrubs, plants, hand tools, power equipment, (such as loads equipment into the van/ truck: carries heavy supplies).

  • Duties may require climbing a ladder for items such as tree or shrub pruning or trimming.

  • Cleans equipment after usage (such as rinse hand tools, clean power tools, machinery).

  • Maintains landscaping vehicle in neat and clean manner.

  • Complies with the rules and regulations set forth by Clean Corp.

  • Participates in employee's meetings on or off job site.

CLEANER PERFORMANCE AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Commercial general cleaning and residential cleaning services that will include:

  • Bathroom disinfection and maintenance.

  • Window cleaning.

  • Carpet vacuuming and shampooing.

  • Floor care (stripping, waxing and buffing).

  • Trash removal.

  • Sweeping, dusting, dry-wet mopping, vacuuming,

  • General and special commercial and residential disinfecting services that will require wearing protective equipment (such as hazmat suit, mask, eye protection, PPE).

Qualifications

  1. A high school diploma or training and experience that are considered equivalent.

  2. A practical knowledge of electric and gasoline power tools (ride-on lawn mowers, walk behind lawn mowers, trimmers, and hedgers, weed whackers, blowers, etc.).

  3. A practical knowledge of various hand tools (such as saws, shovels, rakes, hedge shears, bypass pruners).

  4. An ability to communicate in a courteous manner.

  5. A neat appearance.

  6. Knowledge of proper mixing of fuel and engine oil ratio for small gasoline engines power tools.

  7. Basic knowledge of grounds maintenance and landscaping services.

  8. Valid NYS Driver’s License recommended.

  9. OSHA Certification recommended.
