Garden Time Inc. Nursery Worker in Queensbury, New York

2 Fulltime H-2A Seasonal Jobs available 02/15/2024- 11/15/2024.

Duties: Worker will perform the preparation of soil and growth media to prepare for the growing season. This is limited to preparing the pots/flats with soil for the spring growing season. Workers will prepare pots and re-pot bare root nursery stock. This will include: pruning, fertilizing and weeding. Duties performed will be heavy lifting, digging, raking and fertilizing on premises. Dig and root ball trees and shrubs on premises.

Field temperatures can range from 30 100 degrees. Must be physically able to lift up to 40 lbs on a consistent basis throughout the day.

Facility ground maintenance includes: weeding, trimming, mulching of our seasonal planting and maintenance of our beds and landscaping displays.

Workers are required to have a valid drivers license. Worker will have the duty of spraying pesticides with supervision as needed. Due to health and safety concerns on our farm workers must understand basic instructions in English. Employees with a valid driver's license may be requested to drive. Not all workers are requested to drive. No one will be rejected for the position that does not possess a driver's license.

Employers may conduct/require random drug or alcohol tests at employer's expense after hiring, for the safety of themselves and others as they will be operating machinery. Failure to comply with request or testing positive for illegal drugs will result in termination.

Requirements:

  • 3 months experience in duties listed is required
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures
  • Extensive pushing/ pulling
  • Repetitive movements and frequent stooping/ bending over.
