Island Park, LLC Nursery Worker in Rensselaer, New York
3 Fulltime H-2A Seasonal Jobs available 3/1/2024 - 12/31/2024.
Duties include planting/caring for seedlings including watering, pruning, fertilizing, pest control. Unload, handle, and sort seedlings and liners when delivered. Cultivate fields/prepare for planting. Cultivate rows to prevent weed growth. Plant winter cover crops performed with tractor & cultivator. Cull unsalable material. Perform day to day watering as needed. Maintain machines, hand tools, and irrigation for daily use. Balling/burlapping mature trees with mechanical spade. Prepare trees for safe/proper loading and transport. Will be expected to use tractors, farm implements, skid steers, and front loaders. Will be expected to use pruners, sprayers and other hand tools. Exp. with farm equip., heavy equip., hand tools, and plants useful. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience with our company. Must be able to lift 65 lbs., and be able to sit, stand, crouch, and squat repeatedly for long periods of time. Must be able to obtain U.S. Drivers License w/i 90 days or hire. Hours may vary based on weather and crop conditions.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 months experience required.
- Extensive sitting, repetitive movements, extensive walking, extensive pushing/pulling.
- Exposure to extreme temps and frequent stooping
- Lifting requirement of 65 lbs.
- Must have valid NYS drivers license, or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire.
- A post-hire drug screen may be required at the employer's expense.
