Position: AV Recording Supervisor
Reports to: AV Manager
The Audio Visual department serves the Omega campus in three capacities: Audio Visual Production of workshops and concerts, Audio Recording for Archive and online content, and Video/Web production. Each of these teams works both independently and in collaboration with each other and the rest of the Omega community.
Audio Visual personnel work directly with visiting faculty. We are the “eyes and ears” in the classroom. Due to this high visibility on campus, all candidates should be confident, neatly presentable and be able to maintain a calm disposition when things go wrong. All candidates should be strong communicators and confident speaking in public.
The AV team facilitates all audio-visual equipment needs for campus workshops, entertainment, staff programming and staff functions. The AV team works is a division of the Production Department and works closely with People and Culture, and Operations.

The AV team audio records about 30% of the campus workshops, making the content available online and to the faculty as needed.
The Video/Web team, Omega Digital, works closely with the Marketing and Programming departments. They videotape and live-stream selected programs. They also conduct faculty video interviews and create B-roll for promotional purposes. Behind the scenes the Video/Web team spends significant time reviewing, editing and transforming material into web content.

Essential Functions
• Serves as an active link between the AV Manager, AV Crew and the Event Services Department.
• Attend monthly meetings and leadership trainings.
• Holds an ongoing “Big Picture” of AV, Production, and Faculty activities during the current event period as well as upcoming event periods.
• Is able to “look ahead” at various schedules and documents to effectively prepare for upcoming events.
• Oversees Audio Visual Equipment, and ensures proper placement and usage in classrooms, as well as an active equipment Inventory. Ensures cleanliness and proper function of all AV equipment, and is responsible for maintenance and upkeep. This includes sending gear out for repair and discarding old gear. AV Coordinator should always keep clear communication with AV Manager regarding status of broken, old, or malfunctioning gear. It is our goal to consistently have a full inventory of fully functional gear. When new equipment needs to be purchased, it is the AV Coordinator’s responsibility to communicate this to AV Manager as soon as possible.
• Oversees bi-weekly classroom inventory (usually on Wed. & Sat.)
• Implements weekly inventory of AV supplies such as batteries, tape, etc.,
• Reports to Production Manager or Production Supervisor for “weekly hand-off meetings” if AV Manager is unavailable. These meetings keep the AV department informed about upcoming events.
• Oversees biweekly campus “transition day changeover”.
• Oversees truck run and all of its components, and manages AV Crew in working in a timely, organized and constructive manner, to clear unneeded gear from class rooms and set up new gear for the next class. This includes supervising AV crew to do room set-ups and full classroom tests on all gear.
• Communicates with Faculty Support regarding “faculty check-ins” and assigns appropriate AV crew to meet with the faculty at specified times.
• Has awareness of where each “optional class” is (yoga, dance, etc.) and is sure to have boom boxes accessible, un-muted and set at appropriate volume. This is also part of the PM AV tech’s responsibility.
• Reviews weekly HSP list and is sure to have proper equipment in appropriate classrooms prior to each class.
• Maintains communications with daily Am/Pm AV shifts to ensure the quality of production throughout the campus per event period.
• Organizes equipment needs and staffing non-workshop related special events: Concerts, movies, dances, book readings, panels and presentations.
• Ensures that the R&R program and any “happenings” are supported with AV equipment as needed.
• Ensures that bi-weekly participant orientations are equipped with microphones, projection, slideshow and music.
• Organizes tech needs for core staff meetings.
• Trains and orientates new AV staff. New staff shadows the AV Coordinator as well as AM and PM AV crew to learn department procedures. The AV Coordinator facilitates a full campus tour, orientates new staff to storage areas, a thorough “annex breakdown”, instructions on all gear operations including proper set-up and breakdown techniques, as well as storage, cleaning and maintenance.
• Updates AV documents such as truck run, inventory sheets, and job descriptions.
• Maintains proper golf cart awareness and caretaking and passes this on to all AV crew. Makes sure that PM crew cleans, locks and charges the cart in the evenings.
• Is always available by radio while on shift and sets the tone for AV crew by using proper radio etiquette, keeping professional calls to a minimum and on appropriate channels.
• Operates motor vehicles when needed
• Occasionally lifts/carries/moves heavy items
• Other duties as required by supervisor

• Fluent knowledge of live audio set up and recording, video recording and lighting is required.
• Candidates should have working experience or have a willingness and capability to learn the following: 16 channel mixing boards; musical, vocal and wireless microphones; slide, overhead and LCD projectors; TV’s, VCR’s, DVD players; live stage setup with house system and stage monitors; basic stage lighting.

Useful Skills:
General Administration or Office Management, Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PhotoShop, Web Design, Pro-Tools, Logic Pro, Final Cut Pro Studio, Flash), Theater Experience (Lighting, Acting, Stage Design, Sound), Audio & Video Engineering (recording and editing), Film & Video Production (any aspect), Television Production (any aspect), Sound Reinforcement Experience, Serious Musician (any genre), live or radio DJ.

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally
• Be comfortable with heights, on top of a 20ft ladder
• Ability to stand for long periods on occasion
• Ability to sit for long periods and maintain silence.
• Ability to navigate a hilly campus in diverse weather conditions
