FACULTY JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor based on academic expertise and accomplishment. We are recruiting for a candidate with outstanding clinical research skills to create and lead a center related to the study of addiction and pain. Specifically, we are recruiting a grant-funded researcher with a focus on addressing the complex interplay between the experience of acute/chronic pain, use/misuse of addictive substances (prescription opioids, nicotine/tobacco, alcohol, cannabis, benzodiazepines), comorbid psychopathology (anxiety, depression), and issues related to health inequities, social determinants of health, and disparate health outcomes in minority, underserved, and disadvantaged populations. The successful candidate will develop a program of research related to these areas, will collaborate with other investigators, and will contribute to training and education activities in the areas of addiction psychiatry, health psychology and behavioral medicine, including supervision and mentoring of junior researchers.

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

1. Doctoral degree in psychology, psychiatry or another health-related profession (e.g., nursing) with experience in addiction psychiatry.

2. Track record of research funding, research training and experience, with indications of academic success.

3. Track record of conducting research on the issues noted above.

The Department of Psychiatry at URMC offers a vibrant and stimulating setting in which to conduct research. There are active research programs in aging, psychosis, substance use, women’s health, interpersonal violence, psychiatric presentations in primary care settings, and other areas, and a large child and adolescent psychiatry program with multiple sites throughout the city and in surrounding towns. Compensation includes an excellent, nationally competitive base salary, with bonus/moonlighting opportunities, annual CME stipend, and generous benefits package through the University, including retirement program with direct University contribution and tuition benefits.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $120,000 - $176,000 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum annual salary for this faculty position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations. Incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process.
