Position Overview
The Dolomite Intern program creates an opportunity for college students to gain practical skills. This position will be responsible for supporting the operations team. This is a paid summer internship at $20 per hour.
The QC tech role is vital to the successful delivery of quality concrete to construction projects throughout the Greater Rochester area by performing the duties outlined below. Conducting tests to determine the quality of raw materials, ready mix concrete, and finished products helps ensure compliance with quality standards. This position requires the ability to work as a team as well as independently to support customers and help build the community.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following essential functions satisfactorily:
- Responsible for performing routine tests as required on raw materials, process components and final product to ensure that the requirements of the specifications and customers are met.
- Follow quality control plans or guidelines as assigned
- Evaluate data for deviations or trends away from accepted standards
- Report and input data in a complete, timely and understandable fashion; Maintain test results database
- Obtain required certifications in a timely manner
- Assist internal and external customers in any quality related matters
- Overtime and/or night work, weekend work may be required during the peak season
- Collaborate with technical staff as well as customer service and operations personnel to aid in the successful delivery of ready mix concrete
Other Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
- Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the public
- Possess a strong drive to fulfill commitments
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or superiors with other duties as required.
- Complete other duties as assigned
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education/Experience
- Currently enrolled in a college degree program in related field
- Concrete technical background and experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skill Requirement
- Strong written and oral communications skills
- Self-motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to organize with attention to detail
- Have familiarity/ability to work with computers
- Priority emphasis and strong time management skills
- Travel may be required with mileage reimbursement
- Valid state driver's license
Physical Requirements
This position requires the employee to frequently stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, climb or balance. The employee is required to occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is required to lift and move up to 50lbs.
