Job Responsibilities:

The Director of RIT LPP is based within the Office of Pre-College Programs at RIT’s Downtown Center (40 Franklin St.) and reports to the unit’s Senior Director. The LPP Director will regularly visit partner schools to provide support to LPP staff, school administration, and site-based activities. They must have regular access to transportation to enable travel between sites and be able to qualify (LENS) to drive RIT vans. The Director must be able to participate in activities that may involve sitting or standing for long periods, long periods of walking, and lifting supplies up to 25 lbs.

Administration and Finance

  • Subject matter expert in positive youth development and dropout prevention.

  • Key representative of the program to the funder, to RIT’s Office of Sponsored Research, to the Office of Pre-College Programs, and to the community.

  • Responsible for meeting grant objectives and contracted participant enrollment number, ensuring all participants meet qualifications and are active in the program.

  • With support from the Business Manager, responsible for the overall financial management of the grant – ensuring that all expenditures are efficient and aligned with program objectives, follow appropriate grant and university protocol, are permissible according to grant and university spending regulations, and are appropriately documented.

  • Meet regularly with school administrators, counselors, and teachers to establish and maintain relationships around the shared goals of dropout prevention and supporting at-risk students.

  • Identify community partners and develop relationships and collaborations in support of program participants and the achievement of grant goals.

  • Create and maintain an LPP advisory board with quarterly meetings.

  • Participate in LPP statewide and regional director planning meetings, sub-committees, and professional developments as required by NYSED.

  • Help create and foster a sense of teamwork and cooperation among staff and within the office of Pre-College Programs actively working to break down silos and identify opportunities for collaboration.

  • Actively participate in Office of Pre-College Programs, K-12 University Center, and RIT events as requested.

  • Hire, train, develop, and supervise all LPP staff.

  • Foster an inclusive and welcoming environment for staff and participants.

  • Develop and oversee implementation of a participant recruitment plan. Review progress and make changes as needed to ensure achievement of contracted participant number.

Data Management and Assessment

  • Responsible for accurate, thorough, and on time completion of all LPP reports to NYSED and RIT.

  • With support from the Business Manager, responsible for the LPP database. Regularly secure student data from partner schools and oversee documentation of program services.

  • Ensure complete and up-to-date recordkeeping, as dictated by the grant and record retention protocols, including participant files.

  • With support from the Business Manager, oversee the creation and maintenance of a web-based application and event registration/parent permission tool in RIT’s centralized Ideal-Logic event registration system.

  • Oversee implementation of student assessments, as required by the grant. Develop and implement an internal evaluation plan to measure the impact of RIT LPP. Maintain a system of accountability by regularly reviewing LPP data and making changes to processes that ensure achievement of all program objectives.

  • Share impact data, upon request, to the Office of Pre-College Programs and the K-12 University Center.

Programming

  • Strategic development of the program to align with the goals and objectives of the grant as well as the Office of Pre-College Programs and the K-12 University Center.

  • Create and distribute seasonal program calendars with affiliated registration links and distribute to participant families well before programming commences.

  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Pre-College Programs, the STEP Director, and Camp Coordinator in the organization, planning, and implementation of unified Saturday and summer camp programming.

  • Maintain a presence in the schools, at Saturday programming, and at summer camp through regular site visits. Join LPP staff in chaperoning events and implementing programming.

  • Take on a leadership role, under the direction of the Senior Director of Pre-College Programs, in the administration of the unified department-wide summer camp, Camp Tiger.

  • Oversee the development and implementation of programming for parents and family.

  • Maintain connections and opportunities for engagement with LPP alumni from throughout the state who matriculate to RIT.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • Master's degree in Education, Social Work, Youth Development, Management or related

Experience:

  • 3 years of experience in supervisory roles

  • 3 year of experience in grant administration

  • 3 years of working with at-risk youth

Skills

  • Experience in leading a team and managing employees.

  • Extensive experience in grant-funded, K-12 outreach initiatives with specific focus on underserved, underrepresented, at-risk populations.

  • Experience in writing grant proposals, meeting grant objectives, deliverables, and closing grants.

  • Proven experience utilizing evidence-based program design in the development, delivery, and management of K-12 programming.

  • Understands middle and high school academic standards, and NYS high school graduation requirements.

  • Strong knowledge of college and career readiness curriculums, social/emotional learning, and soft skills development.

  • Strong knowledge of how to design and implement an effective case management model/program component for youth and families.

  • Experience managing a budget with efficient and strategic spending in line with grant requirements.

  • Exceptional organizational skills, maintaining records, paperwork, finances, and completing tasks.

Job Summary:

RIT’s Office of Pre-College Programs seeks an experienced, highly-motivated, and growth mindset-oriented youth development and education professional with a positive attitude, passion for working with at-risk youth, and a track record of success in program management to join its team as the Director of RIT’s Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP).

The RIT LPP is a state-funded, grant-based dropout prevention program which aims to prepare 360 at-risk middle and high school youth in City of Rochester and Greece Central schools for post-secondary success in college or the workforce. LPP services include: mentorship, case management, educational enrichment, college and career exploration and readiness, soft skills workshops, leadership development, cultural experiences, Saturday programs, summer camp, and parent engagement activities.

The Director of RIT LPP has oversight and responsibility for all aspects of the program.

Please note: The individual hired into this position must be available to work some Saturdays, over school breaks, and consistently during the month of July for summer camp. Travel to regional and statewide meetings, including some overnights required.
