Entry-Level Structural Engineer Job Location(s) US-NY-Rochester Discipline Water Type Regular Full-Time # of Openings 1 ID 2023-4574 Overview Bergmann, an affiliate of Colliers Engineering & Design, is currently seeking an Entry-Level Structural Engineer to join our Water group in Rochester, NY! Our Water Discipline is growing, and we have exciting projects to engage motivated engineers who enjoy working on a variety of projects varying from steel and concrete to site and earthwork with regular involvement with roadway, structure, utility, and environmental aspects, too. Our projects are unique designs and provide a diverse array of interesting work to keep our staff challenged and engaged. Whether designing a new water control structure, upgrading a hydropower dam, rehabilitating a lock facility or performing work on a levee closure structure, joining the Colliers Engineering & Design Team will accelerate YOUR success! Responsibilities Perform engineering calculations and create construction cost estimates Steel, Concrete, Prestressed Concrete, Timber design Work with senior engineers to create project designs for structures on or near the water (locks, dams, water control gates, moorings, etc.) Perform QA/QC by verifying design methodology, calculations, outcomes, etc. Interpret and understand drawings from multiple disciplines for specific projects and respond to requests for information. Conduct field inspections and surveys in support of design and construction efforts - investigate variables, obtain measurements, photographs, videos, and take detailed notes. Write reports documenting observations. Research and apply code provisions to design. Research design alternatives and document findings for project engineer/manager. Evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures, using own judgement to make adaptations and modifications to existing designs. Assist Project Engineers and leaders as needed in the creation of proposals, client information, and designs. Develop drawings by modifying or replicating a prior project, applying changes and corrections from redlined drawings, and/or creating drawings from sketches of others or from own design. Qualifications Bachelors' Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university EIT candidates preferred Interest in Structural Engineering projects especially on or near the water; prior experience preferred but not required CAD (AutoCAD, MicroStation) skills are a plus Strong Microsoft Office skills Strong written and oral communication skills Attention to detail Desire to work collaboratively in a team environment What We Offer At Colliers Engineering & Design, our people are our most important resource.
