The Louis S. Wolk Jewish Community Center of Greater Rochester is located alongside the Erie Canal in Brighton and is a 200,000 square foot facility that houses our state of the art fitness, wellness and recreation programming, an aquatics center, a Professional Theatre (live stream), Children’s Center and our Premier Camping Program! We pride ourselves on providing our members with quality educational, cultural arts and social programming, and we are an inclusive community center that welcomes people of all faiths, backgrounds, and ages.

We are looking for a seasonal (May to September) Facilities Coordinator to support the Facilities Team by providing coordination and oversight of venue set-up, project support, vendor management, and work-order follow through. This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule, including early morning, late evening, and weekend hours.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to lead the coordination of venue set-up for events taking place in the theatre, auditoriums, meeting rooms and other JCC spaces

  • Lead the coordination between housekeeping, maintenance, and technical staff and others to ensure event spaces meet standards of readiness, cleanliness, etc.

  • Perform activities needed for timely and effective set-up, tear-down and clean-up of venue/events

  • Coordinate access to venue, rooms and equipment; responsible for opening/unlocking and closing/locking-up to maintain appropriate security

  • Support maintenance projects, as directed, by evaluating concerns, making recommendations, sourcing internal and external resources and following through with progress reports and status of completion

  • Coordination of third party/vendor projects; Reach out to vendors for quotes, make recommendations on plan-of-action, provide oversight, ensure quality standards, and maintain relationships for future vendor interactions

  • Support preventative maintenance schedule to ensure prioritization, timeliness of activities, resources provided, tracking of completion, etc.

  • Perform a variety of maintenance tasks, as directed (snow removal, property maintenance, etc.)

  • Commitment to work a flexible schedule, a mix of days, evenings and weekends, including hours outside of typical business hours (9-5), to effectively support event set-ups and maintenance needs

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 3 years’ experience or training in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair

  • Experience working in a lead role preferred

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Multi-tasking, critical thinking, and judgement; be able to organize and prioritize

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Communicate effectively, confidently and courteously

  • Collaborative and approachable; genuine interest in supporting others

Computer Skills:

  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications

Other Requirements:

  • Advanced skills in the use of hand and power tools
