Position: Foundation Fund Development Specialist

Hours: 20 hrs. / 52 wks.

Salary Range: $21,320 – $27,102

Salary Grade: 9

Summary of Responsibilities:

Action for a Better Community Foundation is seeking a seasoned fundraiser to provide part-time support to its fundraising efforts. In this role, the fundraiser will use expert communication skills and a keen sense of initiative to spot fundraising opportunities, develop relationships with potential donors, create opportunities for donor engagement and coordinate fundraising efforts. By coordinating events, writing proposals, and recruiting and leading volunteers, the fundraiser will hone speaking, writing, and leadership abilities while moving the ABC closer to its financial goals. The ideal candidate will be motivated, professional, and organized and have a knack for research. We’re looking for someone who believes in the mission of Action for a Better Community and has exceptional drive for furthering our fundraising efforts as well as strategizing and delivering on new ones.

Duties:

  • Promote awareness of the agency’s mission and work

  • Cultivate a network of dedicated donors and volunteers

  • Spot new fundraising opportunities

  • Plan fundraising initiatives to help the organization meet financial goals

  • Build strong relationships with external stakeholders

  • Ensure major donors are satisfied and kept in the loop

  • Research individuals, corporations, and foundations that are interested in gift giving

  • Effectively convey the organization’s mission, vision, and programs to potential donors

  • Assist in the writing of grant applications and fundraising proposals

  • Strategize and successfully execute fundraising campaigns

  • Organize fundraising events while overseeing teams of volunteers

  • Manage a budget and track whether goals are being met

    Qualifications/Education and Experience:

    Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred); Associate’s degree required in communications, marketing, business, public relations, or related field; and three years of proven experience in fundraising, sales, or marketing or the equivalent combination of related education and skills

    Experience:

  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to lead and motivate colleagues and volunteers

  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people, groups and organizations

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Passion for research

  • Ability to successfully balance priorities while managing multiple tasks and planning big events

  • Certification, diploma, or similar qualification in fundraising

  • Advanced knowledge and usage of Microsoft Office software and social media platforms

  • Competence with donor management systems

  • Experience in writing grant proposals, press releases, and fundraising letters

  • Able to communicate effectively, both oral and written; Confidence in public speaking

  • Demonstrates and uses good judgement and professionalism

The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. The ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
