The National Susan B. Anthony Museum House Guest Services Representative-PT in Rochester, New York

Position Profile: Inspiring others through Susan B. Anthony's life and work is our purpose and passion. The Guest Services Representative ensures an exceptional museum experience for every visitor. This position serves the important role of the first point-of-contact to Museum guests and volunteers, familiarizes guests with the museum, and provides exemplary service at the Museum Shop. The ideal candidate is professional, organized, has effective communication and customer service skills, and works well in a fast paced work environment. Qualifications and desired skills: Effective interpersonal and communication skills and a desire to work in a team environment Retail experience and experience with point-of-sale systems preferred, but not required Guest services experience, experience working with a diverse population Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job Ability to perform physical tasks required for position (including lifting and climbing stairs) Patience and good listening skills Principle Responsibilities: The Guest Services Representative is responsible for positive, professional, successful delivery of the Anthony Museum experience for guests during their shift, including: 1) Modeling and providing a welcoming and responsive atmosphere of guest service. 2) Orienting and welcoming volunteers as they arrive for their shift at the Museum. 3) Straightening and re-stocking merchandise in the Museum Shop. 4) Processing all cash register sales including but not limited to Museum Memberships, donations, Museum Shop sales. 5) Assuring that the grounds and facilities are clean, safe, and ready to welcome guests before and during the course of the shift (this may involve light cleaning and sanitizing, vacuuming, restocking of paper goods, room set-up, snow shoveling, watering the gardens, changing light bulbs, sweeping, litter pick up, etc.). 6) Answering telephones or responding to customer service issues that may arise during the shift. 7) Offering additional information about other cultural sites and local businesses. 8) Offering interpretive information and tours, as needed. 9) Participating in weekly staff meetings. 10) Performing other duties as may be required.
