Function of Position:

The Office Assistant is responsible for managing the Healthy Hero main office. They are responsible for answering all telephone calls, managing daily attendance of campers and staff, entering data in Campdoc software, and managing camper late arrivals and early departures.

This position requires excellent communication skills and ability to manage numerous issues at once. Organizational and technical skills are needed to successfully complete the work. Tasks assigned can include assisting with campers, helping problem-solve employee questions and issues, managing up-to-date staff lists, running software reports daily, managing student lists, preparing documents for funders and other tasks assigned.

The Office Assistant is responsible for the general safety and development, growth, and skill achievement of the participants in their group. They will participate in high quality outdoor educational and recreational experiences for participants, exemplify focus on the Healthy Hero Summer Camp program core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and the development of healthy lifestyle skills while supporting the academic success of the children. To succeed, a candidate should be upbeat, decisive and responsible. Candidates must enjoy working with children and young adults. The Office Assistant will work closely with all camp staff and campers and will serve as mentor and role model to all staff and campers.

*This is a temporary, grant funded position.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage camper and staff attendance each day.

  • Answer all telephone calls and answer questions or resolve problems.

  • Manage late student arrivals and early dismissals. Document in Campdoc, notify appropriate staff.

  • Prepare and manage PM bus lists so that each student is correctly placed each afternoon.

  • Regular use of software to manage student information, parent information and document activity.

  • Create and run reports using Campdoc software.

  • Support a variety of small and large group activities each week. Activities may include crafts, nature, music, games, opening and dismissal procedures, swimming, initiatives, math class, ELA classes, music classes, health classes, breakfast, lunch and other events, as assigned.

  • Identify and report camper behavior issues.

  • Ensure that the site is kept clean, organized, and free of litter.

  • Report concerns of campers' experiences to Camp Leadership.

  • Know and understand ALL emergency procedures associated with the camp program.

  • Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp and all program areas. This includes, but is not limited to, being responsible for your campers' safety and location at all times.

  • Memorize emergency procedures and enforce all camp rules.

  • Participate in Camp trainings and orientation.

  • Ability to take direction from Camp Leadership.

  • Ability to work well with other staff members of all levels of camp.

    Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Five years of office management experience

  • Five years of working with students

  • Upon hire, completion of Healthy Hero Camp Orientation and training.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Upbeat, positive and engaging personality.

  • Interest in working with school aged children.

  • Ability to assist in the implementation of program activities.

  • Ability to work as a member of a team and the ability to accomplish tasks.

  • Strong age-appropriate organizational and communication skills.

  • Excellent computer/technical skills.

  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently

    Additional Information:

Dates of temporary assignment: MCC Healthy Hero Camps operation: June 30, 2025 - August 1, 2025. (Closed July 4, 2025).

Hours: Camp Hours are 7:45am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.

Salary: $7,000
