Function of Position:

This is an hourly, seasonal position within the Public Safety Department at Monroe Community College responsible for protection of life and property, prevention of crime or violations of the College Code of Conduct, and identification of offenders. The employee works under the general supervision of the Chief of Public Safety and reports directly to a Campus Peace Officer Supervisor. Public Safety Assistant II's are assigned to specific Public Safety details including Residence Halls.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Patrols an assigned area at Monroe Community College locations to ensure the safety of persons and property.

  • Assumes duty at an assigned post; investigates complaints and disturbances and may assist in apprehending violators at the direction of campus peace officers.

  • Perform special assignments as required.

  • Testifies in court as necessary.

  • Maintains Residence Hall policies including checking bags, instructing visitors, maintaining order and reporting violations to Public Safety.

    Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus current registration as a Security Guard with the New York State Department of State.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: If you are appointed you will be required to possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State or otherwise demonstrate your capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position

Additional Information:

Job Type: Part Time, Temporary

Hours/Shift: 7:00am - 3:00pm and 11:00pm - 7:00am

6-20 hours weekly while College is in session. Employee will not work during College breaks, holidays or summer months.

Must be available to work weekends.

Salary: $16.30/hr
