Palmer Food Services is looking to hire multiple Retail Associates for the upcoming busy holiday season! This seasonal position runs from October through January, offering an exciting opportunity to join our team during one of the most dynamic times of the year. Roles and Responsibilities:
Assist customers with inquiries about fresh fish, meats, menu items, and grocery products. Provide basic knowledge of product types, cuts, cooking methods, and sale items.
Deliver exceptional customer service by being polite, friendly, and attentive. Ensure a welcoming environment for all customers.
Answer phone calls with appropriate greetings and assist with customer inquiries.
Keep work areas clean, neat, and well stocked. This includes inventory for the fresh fish case, meat case, cooked food, and grocery areas.
Maintain a basic understanding of items sold in the Market to answer customer questions about products and features.
Provide guidance on special or featured products, and suggest cooking tips when necessary.
Ensure work areas are clean, organized, and well-stocked, including the fresh fish case, meat case, chef-prepared foods, and grocery sections.
Monitor inventory levels and restock as needed to maintain product availability.
Operate the cash register and assist with customer transactions, including cash, check, credit cards, food stamps, gift cards, and loyalty cards.
Handle customer service matters related to sales, such as special orders, complaints, and refunds, efficiently and professionally.
Remain flexible and adjust break times when the store is busy to prioritize customer service.
Follow the guidelines in Palmer Food Services’ Handbook and understand the Company’s Culture, Goals & Objectives.
Participate in cross-training in other areas as necessary to support broader company operations.
Communicate customer concerns, feedback, and needs with the Manager on Duty to ensure customer satisfaction.
Collaborate with management and other associates to meet the needs of the customers and the business.
Maintain a professional image with appropriate dress and grooming, in accordance with company guidelines.
Qualifications:
Strong interpersonal skills, friendly, outgoing personality
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to work in a fast-paced retail store environment
Salary:
$16.00- $17.00/ a hour

Ability to stand for extended hours, typically 6-8 hours per shift.
Frequent walking throughout the store, stockroom, and other areas.
Ability to lift and carry items ranging from 10 to 50 lbs. regularly (e.g., boxes of produce, grocery items, and inventory).
Frequent bending, stooping, and crouching to stock shelves, retrieve items, and assist customers.
Frequent reaching above shoulder height and stretching to stock items on high shelves or retrieve products.
Frequent grasping of items and use of hands for operating equipment (e.g., cash registers, scanners, and point-of-sale systems).
Ability to read product labels, shelf tags, and customer transactions, as well as maintaining awareness of surroundings for safety.
Clear communication with customers, coworkers, and managers, often in a noisy environment.
Quick, coordinated hand movements to handle and package groceries or prepare food products.
Occasional squatting or kneeling to clean, restock lower shelves, or assist customers at floor level.
