University of Rochester Senior Volunteer Services Specialist Trainer/Consultant in Rochester, New York

Responsibilities

Position Summary

Under general direction and with considerable latitude for independent judgment and within the framework of hospital policy, the Senior Volunteer sevices Specialist trainer/consultant is responsible for providing comprehensive and real time training for the new Senior Volunteer Services Specialist on specific, designated volunteer programs within the Friends of Strong and the administrative responsibility for the volunteer program at Strong Memorial Hospital and its offsite locations.

Responsibilities

  • Provides training and guidance to the Senior Volunteer Services Specialist, as well as the volunteer team for developing, implementing, evaluating, and maintaining a 600+ person healthcare volunteer program that benefits patients, staff, and volunteers at Strong Memorial Hospital. This includes, but is not limited to all logistics of the program, including recruitment, interview scheduling and coordination. Provides training on staff scheduling for day to day operations and volunteer peaks, onboarding orientations and interviews prospective volunteers and makes decisions regarding the best placement for the candidate within the institution; management of program secretaries to ensure that all volunteers are oriented and meet the standards for compliance as they relate to HIPAA training, Joint Commission and NYSDOH and NYSDOL requirements, as well as oversight of internal compliance requirements including, but not limited to NYS exclusion screening for volunteers, programs for minors compliance management, and internal Employee Health compliance ensuring timely follow up on volunteer health appointments and flu documentation for all Friends of Strong volunteers.

  • Provdies training and guidance on building and maintaining relationships within the hospital and the community through education and collaboration.

  • Provides training and guyidance on managing all of the intricate details, planning and logistics directly related to major program peaks in the spring, summer and fall. This includes internal and external communications regarding program start and stop dates, requirements by group, timely follow up and processing in a very short turnaround time. Precise communication with volunteer supervisors and Employee Health are at an escalated level during these peaks, requiring fast and accurate turn around times. Over 70% of FOS volunteers are processed during these timeframes.

  • Provides training and guidance for , VSys, our volunteer program database, as well as additional software programs./tools including MyPath, Sign up Genius, and Survey Monkey. Ensures that all tracking and reporting is up to date and completed in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Graduation from college or an equivalent combination of experience and training required.

  • 3 years of related work experience including at least 1 year in an administrative capacity in an academic office or project management, or the equivalent experience in business required.

  • Microsoft Suite programs, supervisory experience, interviewing experience required. Volunteer program experience preferred.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $20.00 - $38.46 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
