The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Senior Instructor or above based on academic expertise and accomplishment. We are recruiting for a candidate with outstanding clinical research skills to join the Department’s Sleep & Neurophysiology Research Laboratory (SNRL) and help to expand the lab’s research in two key areas: (1) dream research and (2) sleep health among individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.

The successful candidate will: serve as the Associate Director of the SNRL; develop a program of research in dreaming and dream engineering; and develop a program of research on sleep in the deaf population. This latter line of research will be integrated with the Department of Psychiatry’s clinical services in the Deaf Wellness Clinic.

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  1. Doctoral degree in neuroscience, biomedical science, cognitive psychology or a discipline related to sleep research.

  2. Technical expertise in administering a sleep research laboratory and related staff and equipment.

  3. Expertise in one or more facets of dream research.

  4. Experience conducting clinical and/or public health research in the deaf or hard of hearing population(s).

  5. Track record of research training and experience, with indications of early academic success and national recognition.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $92,150 - $143,173 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum annual salary for this faculty position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations. Incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process.
